Kangaroos absolutely do get dogs in headlocks, they will try to drag them to water to drown them. Its what they did to survive dingoes. A woman in my area had her dog killed/drowned by a roo.

There are heaps of footage of kangaroos trying to drown dogs holding them down like that. Also the big Reds are 7 foot tall.
