Amanda Seyfried's third great grandfather, Peter Friesell, was living in Pennsylvania with his wife Lydia and their daughter in 1860. He voluntarily enlisted in the Civil War to fight for the Union to end slavery. He ultimately served as a musician, playing the fife. He risked his life and survived.

Actress Amanda Seyfried captured the attention of audiences and critics in her breakthrough performance in MAMMA MIA! which was released in 2008. Seyfried’s numerous film credits include her roles in MEAN GIRLS, MANK, WHILE WE’RE YOUNG and DEAR JOHN; her TV roles include HBO's BIG LOVE and Hulu’s THE DROPOUT.
