Steph I have been making your tortilla recipe since the 5lb recipe came out 😊
I make them about every 2-3 months I hand them out to family and friends who love them. They are always so surprised at how soft they are after they pull them out the freezer. They don't stick together at all makes it easy to just grab 1 at a time. Sending you ladies loves & hugs from Texas.
Have you tried the south Chicago lard? It’s who I use and I am curious if you have had the opportunity to try theirs in your recipe
ОтветитьI just tried this recipe, although I was stuck with vegetable shortening (Great Value version of Crisco because the only lard I had was Armor) and I have to say you just upped my tortilla game several times over. I didn't get them quite as thin but I'm sure that will come with practice...and if not, they're still several steps up from the thick, stiff tortillas I was making before.
ОтветитьBeautiful job. Thank you
ОтветитьI was interested until I saw that lard has BHT and BHA, it made my eyeballs pop out of my head (luckily they popped back in). Lard is bad without those additives, like refined/hydrogenated margarine but made with gmo-fed pigs.
I thought people make their own food to have better quality ingredients.
Butter from grass fed animals would be the healthier option.
What else can i use besides lard or butter. Just trying to be a bit healthier for me..they look super delicious..it just i need to keep a close eye with my diet..thanks..🍻🙏♥️😊
ОтветитьHey great video I watched you as I made my first batch I only had bacon fat and since they are for breakfast I figured bacon grease would be cool
ОтветитьHow hot was the grill pan???
ОтветитьI am not buying tortillas anymore! Thank You.
ОтветитьI actually like mine crispy with butter..if i use butter how much should i use..when im substituting lard for butter
ОтветитьThis will be the first time making tortillas
ОтветитьOff to the store for the Morrell , then going to try this out. Wish me luck !😊
ОтветитьI made fairly successful tortillas for the first time using your recipe after many tries using other recipes!
ОтветитьI just tried to make your tortillas. They didn't come out round but I will practice. I hope to get better every time I make them. My husband and son did say they were good.
ОтветитьYou used butter shortening some time ago, is lard better to use now?
ОтветитьI made the tortillas but every time I stretch it out and I pick it up, my tortillas shrink back up! 😭😭😭 am I doing something wrong ?
Ответитьshes great with her hands ❤🥵🥵🥵
ОтветитьI love your videos! Have you ever thought about weighing all your ingredients in grams and then also using one of those $20 laser temp guns to determine the optimal cast iron temp?

ОтветитьI grew up to all the women in my life making homemade tortillas. Store bought is not my go to. The taste and texture is just not for me. I gotta have flour
ОтветитьYour accent makes me want to learn. I’m a white dude but I grew up in LA. I’ve lived in houses where the main language was Spanish. I love pasole. Addicting. I live in Detroit now. The Mexicans here are very American. I miss the authenticity…..
I’m Italian, so Latino
Man next summer on my way to SPI gonna have to stop by for some food 😅. Love your channel, I’m from Uvalde but live in Austin and it’s hard to find good TexMex here. Thank you 🙏
Ответитьi’m a quarter native mexican. my dad’s half, grandma is full first generation. i’m not too loud, but proud to carry that with me. i was not taught a lot though about our language or food. especially not cooking. to feel like i’m learning from family, and the kindness, the love in the video. i immediately subscribed. it means everything to me.
ОтветитьWhat do you mean by fluff up? I didn't see anything get fluffed up. I learn best bu watching.
I mean by watching.

ОтветитьI have a problem with after I cook my tortillas. Like after 20min they are hard as a rock. Why? I even put them in a bag to keep it's moisture. I'm doing something wrong.
ОтветитьHow do I put this? I don’t even know how I ended up watching this video but I’m so glad I found you!! I’ve been trying to make tortillas that didn’t go hard or too chewy for soooo long and then I try this super easy recipe and they came out perfect my friend. Thank you!!! 👏

Home made tortillas, brings back memories of my childhood when my yacqui grandma made them. I would always have a fresh one with butter. Grandma Mae them by hand. She clapped the dough between her palms like pizza dough. Then slap them right on the griddle. Grandma left us back in the 80s. But those memories still live when i have a freshly made tortillas.
ОтветитьLooks amazing!
ОтветитьI am struggling soo bad making it 😩😩 I sometimes just want to give up and just buy them from the store. I’m not sure what I am doing wrong that they always comes out toasty no matter how low or how high the heat is 🙁maybe is the pan ? Idk man lol
Ответить❤❤❤
ОтветитьThe tortillias taste like lard. NEVER USE BAKING SODA! You aren't making crackers. You are very right about the salt. Whoever sugg
Ested the use of bacon fat whew those are good. You don't want to throw bacon fat away. It is a blessing and an art. Thank you for sharing.
I had to laugh and
comment on the shape of tortillas. A few times I would remember watching my mom make tortillas and the shapes that look either like Texas or Alaska, not quite round. They were good but yours looks even better.
Thanks ,me and the wife are going to make some . Very good video, well done!!!
ОтветитьThat last tortilla and butter made feel like a kid again.❤️ Awesome video!!
ОтветитьIs it a cup of lard or 1/2 cup ?
ОтветитьMy mom and grandma would press them as they were cooking, always soft and delicious !!!
ОтветитьLovely.
Do I oil my CAST IRON ?
Okay, but that lip color!! ❤ I have to know what it is!
ОтветитьYour so nice..lol but Lard? omg im scared to put that in my diet lol
ОтветитьButter I like that idea!
ОтветитьHow do you store them? Wondering for a potluck.
ОтветитьWe sometimes fry the tortillas then put sugar on them. Yummy .
ОтветитьLegit Sonoran flour tortillas. Never use Crisco or any shortening. Will totally change the texture and taste. Pork lard is where its at for real tortilla taste. Good job
ОтветитьThank you so much for thos recipe. I've been making my own Tortillas for the last couple months. I couldn't figure out why they got hard. I just made these they came out so great.❤❤❤
