It's not awful, the metal parts sound like a boneless Slipknot. Good chorus though 👌

I love this new album. Is it heavy and technical as Of Kingdom? It's not, but thats ok w me. Im 49, had BME in 94, I liked burning red, I liked Supercharger when they came out because it was still better than all the other nu metal of its time. Nu metal seems to be making a comeback and once again Robb's like 'hold my beer" . Can we just come to the conclusion that the dude has artistic integrity and loves to change it up the second they seem pigeonholed? I like Catharsis, not sure world was ready for that in 2018 but some of the songs have aged well for me. In a time where everybody thinks Ghost and Sleep Token is metal I will take Unatoned all day long and twice on Sunday. Robb gets way to much hate, dude is a legend and riff god

I really liked "Kingdom and Crown", it sounded fresh and inspired. It felt almost like "Through the ashes..." after the terrible "Supercharger" album. "Unatoned" does nothing for me, it has no clear structure with this mixture of bangers with new metal and even electronic tunes. I have nothing against melodic stuff, but like it more, when it is embedded into a heavy song. To this point I haven't found one song on "Unatoned", that I really consider MH Top-stuff in comparison to their best work. Maybe this comparison is not fair, there are definitely some decent songs on it, but mediocracy isn't something I expect from Rob Flynn, who is grinding the axe for over 30 years now.
The ongoing lineup changes must have an affect the outcome, Flynn seems to have lost his musical track, where to go and where better to stay away from. And his kind of session musicians won't do a lot of criticism and feedback. So he tries everything a little bit. Adam Duce, Dave McClain and Phil Demmel left the band and the hole they left could never be filled again.

Yeah, this record is one of the polarizing ones once again. With all those fans that are against progression, against electronics, against cleans, against sounding current it takes balls to dare to experiment over and over again. Kudos to Robb and MH. Me, I could even go with Jordan Fish becoming a fifth member. Love what he does.

This new album is an evolution off the >band. As worthy as it can get.
1st time listening it was "nah" it's ok little bit weird sound and need to get used to the changes trough out the songs. Changes in the chorus's. Not as the clean obvious steps you get used to from them.
2nd time listening it's become "this is good stuff".
3th time listening it was already on" repeat this fucking album it's KILLER!
NEVER ABSOLUTELY NEVER did Machine Head ever disappoint. Always new but still the trusted Machine head vibe.
They've meant a lot for me in my life. The music kept me one moment really alive when my mind didn't want to go further.
This new album is amazing.

Of Kingdom and Crown is a massive album, one of their best for sure!
I like all their stuff, and that they are going a little back to Nu & Groove Metal is fine for me.
