Is this the company that had a facility that made only Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon albums during it's peak ?
My band just ordered vinyl for the first time, and wouldn't you know it... our metalworks and test presses were made at GZ! Really cool to see this video and get a look at the place that made the magic happen for us. Thank you for this.
Gz pressings are shit! Noisy as hell utter crap
I had no idea this is what it took to manufacture a vinyl record. Much appreciated this video and a glimpse inside the production.
OMG Michael!! How did I miss this?! This was absolutely riveting! I could not turn it off. One of the best videos on You Tube IMHO. I was watching every second to take everything in. The machinery, the process, the details, the quality control, the massiveness of the operation, so much to take in. The 2 plus hours FLEW by! Thanks for sharing this with us. Cheers! Your fan, Matt Street
This plant butchered the pressing of Gnosis by Russian Circles. It's unlistenable. Makes you wonder how that happened when in theory they know what they're doing.
Wonderful work, i learnt a lot about the process!
So it's not analogue anymore, but digital recordings....
What a fantastic documentary! Not a polished commercial, but a somewhat rough, very informative tour of the CZ vinyl factory.
There is quite a bit involved before the vinyl is finally on the record player. And then the audio grocers also have the nerve to complain that a vinyl album costs about $30…
Vinyl making is pure manual labor. An old craft that fortunately has been resurrected from its near grave.
Thank you Mikey!
Fábrica incrível! Maravilha! Parabéns!
Interesting, but man this is made of the worst camera man in the world. Wrong focal length for this purpose, wobbly camera holding, wrong section for the picture.
A while back I bouth Aimee Mann's Everythin's Different now. First on CD then on original vinyl pressing. IMHO the CD was head and shoulders above the vinyl. Things like fades and reverb tails were far more detailed than the vinyl record. Vinyl is nice and I still buy vinyl. However when I transfer a collection to tape I always use the CD version. It is well worth recording CD to tape since it returns the recording to a fuller more organic sound.
Yes
Yes soy ing
Exelente produccion
Los escucho muy bien como bien
Estoy en protección civil
Very interesting, and very impressive, fair play to the company and the employees...
I want that software to be available for analyzing pre recorded music :)
Kind of ironic that an audiophile channel always has shitty audio in the videos LOL
Michael this was the BEST video ever. It's great to see passion alive and well in today's rushed world
I don’t know WHY Michael even went to this plant! Easily the worst pressing plant Ever!
Michael being Michael in a very high tech situation 😳😎
Too bad you skimped and did not hire a real cameraman. Sad.
This is another very informative and interesting video that covers the entire production of LP and jackets in house under one roof. I'm amazed how much better printing quality of album jackets has improved over the years. I worked in the printing industry decades ago and the facility had a Heidelberg press which was of excellent quality. The pressman was off one day on the holidays and I did a 4 part NCR form on a 2 colour Heidelberg press, while enjoying the holiday Spirits as it were. GZ is state of the art of course and a nice plant tour Michael. It was very cool that you pressed your own copy of Elton's Tumbleweed Connection, still in my top 10 fav albums of all time. I think Bernie mastered and cut that one if not mistaken.
Looks like a European sweat shop - I got that pressing that Fremer pulled out of that press - now I know why it’s warped 😂
Ответитьsaludos atte jovanny
Ответитьsaludos felicidades por su trabajo atte jovanny
A lot of their equipment is from Croatia records Croatia. The bustards sold it in mid nineties for tips thinking they didn't need it anymore ! How short sighted group. And, also, to empty a few warehouses they throw into trash a few millions of produced records !!!! And, now Czechs make money ! Bravo Czechs.
Analog planet, you should persuade GZ Media to finally put the records into the plastic antistatic bags. Most of the records they put into the paper sleeves, which make a lot of damage to brand new records !
Seems the QC is getting better
With the latest purchases
Ive gotten that CZ pressed
atte jovanny
So this is where my shitty noisy vinyl is made
Funny watching about how amazing GZ's quality control technology is while I sit here and listen to two GZ new releases that have tons of pressing defects. Rotational pops and clicks, very high surface noise floors, static. Where's all that QC money going?
This place has awful QC...
Kust wow
This plants pressing are so hit or miss
The software for engineering is amazing when compared to a long time ago. Also, simply great respect to the press operators... Those vinyl pucks are over 320F (160C). Even with a cloth glove, that gets hot after a shift of work. The manual process for the psychedelic album (multicolor vinyl) requires a lot of concentration when compared to fully automated machines.
