Ah yes, teaching our kids about communism in the most subtle of ways

Even if the scales were more like an accessory, imagine someone just coming up to you saying your jewelry is beautiful and asking for like a bracelet or ring saying you have so many you wouldn't miss just one. I'm all for sharing but I always found a lot of stories from my youth were very extreme or made someone out to be a villain because they didn't want to share something.

I broke my wrist when I was 6, my parents got me a skip it because I liked jump rope but use a jump rope, brought it to school and during recess a few of my friends would ask to play with it and I would barely get to use with it, so after a few day of that happening I just stopped bringing it and would say I forgot it, because I was scared of my friends thinking I was mean for not sharing because I wanted to use my skip it at recess, that's why I brought it, I was happy they had fun with it but at the same time they could use a jump rope I couldn't so when they were using the skip it all I could was just watch instead of getting to play.

Sharing is important, but so is helping kids understand when and what is okay to share, I would love to go back and tell my younger self it's okay to not want to share the skip it everyday and tell my friends that while they may want to play with the skip it they have to understand that younger me can't do jump rope and this is her only alternative right now, and when her arm is healed they can freely trade off as much as they all want.

Rainbow shouldn’t have been forced to rip off parts of his body. It sounds very painful and horrible. Honestly, I feel bad for him.

My English was so terrible when i was still a kid, i enjoyed this show due to the chasing part and everyone becoming friends but did not catch any moral behind it, nothing about sharing at all😅 Now that i'm older, it just gave me a totally different thought, and i hate this story tbh😂

I love sharing and as a child I never had a problem with sharing… but if I was the Rainbow Fish… U WANT ONE OF MY SHINY SCALES THAT I CLEARLY LOVE SO MUCH AND ARE UNIQUE TO ME?? AND YOU KNOW THAT EVERYONE IS GONNA ASK FOR ONE ONCE THEY SEE YOU WITH IT SO YOU’RE LEAVING ME AT RISK OF HAVING NONE LEFT BECAUSE EVEN IF I STIL HAVE ONE IN THE END SOME FISH ARE THIEVES. Why do you want it so bad? Cause it’s pretty?? If you get mad at me for not giving it to you doesn’t that mean you’re just as vain as me and you’re mad your matte scales don’t get you the attention you crave? Listen here, SMALL FRY, I could try to teach you how to polish your own scales to look as shiny as possible but pick off one of MY SCALES for you?? Nah I’m sorry buddy, I’m just gonna have to be alone for the rest of my fish life because even if I gave one to everyone I still wouldn’t be happy hanging around fish that only want me around because they want something I have and not because they think I’m fun to play with.

I loved this cartoon so much when I was a kid

Maybe my memory isn't what is used to be, but I definitely don't remember the book going this way. I thought the moral of the story was to NOT give everyone a piece of you just to have friends. Imagine giving everyone a key to your heart/brain just to not be lonely. This misleads kids very young.
