I often get asked, "Do you have some favorite scenes from your books?" What an impossible question! It's like asking me to choose my favorite children — they're each unique and I love them all. But if I had to pick a few favorite scenes, here's one that stands out.

At the opening of “MERLIN: The Lost Years” (Book 1 of The Merlin Saga), a young boy washes ashore — lost, confused, and all alone. He's half drowned, barely alive, and has no memory of anything… not even his own name.

I feel so much love and compassion for that boy, and a yearning for him to discover what’s inside himself. Even though he doesn't know it, he has a spark of magic deep within.

In that moment, half drowned and barely alive, lost and alone, he still has that magic.

And that magic could grow into a powerful flame, shining the light of a wizard.

Of course, he has to survive that day for it to happen. But it's there.

What is your favorite scene from Book 1? Let me know in the comments!
