Why are there so many stories about EV batteries catch fire? Risky

I will never stop being annoyed at the 10 minutes to charge to 80% nonsense.
It’s an absolutely meaningless statement. My IPAD battery can do that. It’s just such a math challenged statistic that communicates no useful information.

I don't care how fast a BYD charges, it is the quality of the whole vehicle and more than one

Here's my two cents. I for one don't think batteries charging at 500kW will revolutionize anything. Only thing they'll do is put insane stress on the already crumbling energy grid. What we need is a battery that can keep its charging speed deep into the pack. We're talking 200kW at 80%. Most batteries fall off a cliff after 50%, falling below 150kW, some even lower, to 120kW or 100kW. My MYP24 limits to 80kW at 80% charge. I mean.. rather than making a battery that can except the first 20% in 2 minutes, maybe make one that can except 250kW for the whole 10-80% stint.

Sources of China, give a break, the Chinese are lying like crazy. I would not buy Chinese cars at all they have a tendency to introduce new technology without testing it properly. It is one thing to buy a Chinese phone, which will probably not kill you, and another to buy a Chinese car, which can kill you.

I thank you Sam, for introducing me to the Atto 3 back in 2022 and I placed my order just after you. It arrived in August '22 and I reckon, it's the best decision I've ever made. We're so happy with our BYD. Our second vehicle may well be a BYD too, maybe an Xpeng G6 or the new Tesla MY.

The cost of public charging is so prohibitive. In the balance of things to prioritise in battery/car design, efficiency (kWh/kg) volumetric density and continuous power rating at pack level, are important to me. Vehicle range and Public fast Charging speeds are already good enough. If they improve without compromising improvements in other areas, great!

I bought Byd Seal last summer and i don't feel disappointed at all. It's a fantastic car with range that suits me very well. There's always new tech coming around the corner if u wait you'll be waiting forever. In real world a few people can actually afford a new car so it takes time to these technologies to saturate the market. So maybe in 2-4 years i'll change my car to new Byd with newest technology that is available.Let's see how this version of Blade battery holds up in Finnish winter.

Buyers regret and deflation. ICE cars have had 200 years of innovation. EVs 10 years of innovation. Thus I expect major innovation with cooling, batteries, motors, electronics and electronic components, software etc. in two years we will have amazing, cheap, long lasting batteries. Buyers today will regret.EVs will be much cheaper. However, in 20 years the rate if innovation will calm down and be uncremental

The figures quoted are for the cell level density, when you translate that to a total pack weight a 64kwh v2 blade pack would weigh 90-95kg less than a V1 - not bad applied to a 1900kg car but won't turn it into a featherweight.

We were at a BYD dealership today. I test drove a Seal. It was fun to drive but, at about 21,000 yuan, it doesn't compete well with cars by X-Peng or Zeekr, which are only a bit more expensive and have self-driving and are more luxurious. The Song is good value if you want a cheap, good car, but it is not what we are looking for.

Fast charging is not required if you are on a city trip, well within the driving range of the battery. It should be used only on highway drives, where your travel range becomes an issue, because Fast charging is generally not good for their service life and must be avoided, as far as possible.

using kilowatts to judge the charging speed isn't really fair. There are likely other limitations involved that don't have anything to do with the battery itself. Additionally, battery kwh needs to be considered. A battery twice the size can generally be charged twice as fast. The battery charging C rate is what needs to be known. I do not know if BYD publishes this.

Have you seen the comments about BYD being in a predicament. They have a 77% debt to asset ratio, which is the same as Evergrande had when they collapsed in China. They have no way to recoup the debt in a 1000 years based on the actual profit they make on each car
