I have been playing since beta with a bow/hatchet build and i am sorry to say this but your build is absolute trash. Powershot is never useful in PVE situations as chances for lining them up does not happen often. Therefore, Rain of arrows beat Powershot anytime. Evadeshot is mean for pvp and for PVE u can just use a normal evade and use a poison bomb on them instead. Please stop giving false information to players. Because if i see syndicate players leveling with this build i will be very sad.

I am 5 days into the game and i am lvl 50 and i can tell you 1 million % that this is not the build you want to go for. DM if you want an actual good build. Thanks

I've been running the bow with the spear and it works just fine but i've been thinking about going with the hatchet. Anyone try both and can tell me how it compares?

Spear + bow. I'm level 29 doing missions at level 35+. Can 2 shot most level 35 mobs with the bow, if they get close enough then spear with c&c talents allows me to put distance between me and the target.

Should you still have a shield? I know it can't be used like with a sword but even if it stays on your back you can still use it for some armor and stats?

Bow = need aim + slow style

This is my main class since beta and I rather use the poison arrow instead of rapid shot

I'm rocking a hatchet/spear build. The spear hits hard when thrown (harder than the hatchet) and gives that bonus of being able to hit at a distance but both weapons are perfectly viable up close. Go constitution and strength, you got a good DPS/Tank build.

unfort the bow and musket are pretty trash in pvp unless you sitting back in a war, but in open world pvp you will get shit on legit.

in any mmorpg i always play archer

I can solo mobs 8 lvls higher than me, with a similar build.
Optimal is 4 above, as they die a bit faster and this is not an AoE build, so killing single mobs fast is best.

I am curious as to why you wouldn't go rapier as it scales far better with Dex for your melee choice.

I go hatched and big axe. Full str and it do insane dmg.

would like to play a range build, but it feels so much weaker as a melee build. (based on dps)
Don´t get me wrong, i like my melee build, but all of my friends play a melee dd. so in a dungeon, we are 4 players (3 dd 1 tank) cuddling with the boss.
That makes it super annoying to fight and super hard for our healer to target the right player.

So i decided to rebuild a little bit. i just don´t know if a musket or a bow would be the better idea.
I also thought about using a spear/hatchet build, but i don´t know if the abilities of the hatchet to throw it, are enought to play it as a "range" weapon.
i also don´t want to reskill and play a mage.

i may try to play the bow a little bit more while leveling. May it will be better than i think.

Question: Are the weapon passive abilities from both of the two weapon skill trees always active whichever of the two weapons you are currently using?

just wondering why all those build videos show fights against much lower level mobs... its to make it look even stronger right? not only yours but all creators do this

I’m running these weapons but went Medium equip load and it made a world of difference. I might go light at 60 but leveling up, 10% of the middling damage you do unpotimized isn’t nearly as valuable as the MASSIVE survivability you gain from the armor.

Ild go for poison cloud. Problem with this build is penetrating shot has a bug in the animation where it stops after penetrating shot

U think int bow with a gem full int works ?

I've got the skirmisher skills on my bow with some hunter passives for damage, for hatchet i have Berserk, Raging Torrent and Infected throw. I've tried other builds and will probably change it up again. Currently I'm in light armor but I haven't decided if the roll dodge is worth the sacrafice in defense, the normal dodge seems sufficient in most scenario's and with Evade shot you can also create a gap. My gameplan is basically to do AoE damage with DoTs (Poison and Bleed) and debuffs (disease and weaken).

I would really like to see how this performs on PVP.

really do like this ranger build a lot, granted I went with medium and sword and shield. blocking does seem a lot more important for curtain areas when you cant engage long range. Defiantly going to see about changing my build to this.

As many others have said, Hatchet / Bow build Medium works better (particularly in PVP), to mitigate damage. Not sure what you've done, but I do a LOT more damage than you (I'm doing over 2K hits off the bat)? Stack DEX, secondary focus CON, third focus STR. Grear wise (you haven't focused on anything, too much of everything). Focus on extra damage, and / or crit. You want that yellow/orange damage. You're level 23, and not one hitting level 17 mobs? Dude ! You haven't discussed charms, and how they have synergies with gear / bag abilities? Let's hope you don't have PVP flagged and spot me my friend...haha.

Great video! I've been using a hatchet / life staff solo build which works well enough but I wanted something with more ranged damage output. Looks like I've found my new build plan.
