I travelled in 'Ford falcons' from Melbourne to gold coast twice a year since i was 4 years old(19 73) with 3 other kids and the olds for years . No AC , 2200 k's ,one stop. Did it non stop too.

I had to drive SYD to CNS in three days for work 2017. I went inland overnight Mungindi NSW and Clermont QLD . about 2500 klms i think .
I was stuffed but worked for 3 months in Cairns and I love that town.

3 days is crazy although you can do it with 2 drivers. I drove Rocky to Cairns stopping only for fuel and a brief rest stop but you really need your reflexes when you are on the highway with trucks at night. I crashed when I finally got to the resort in Cairns - took it much easier on the drive back down the coast.

you know thats not that far only 800 kms a day. Ive driven straight thru, Melbourne to Perth. all i hwat you are used to i guess.

I have never understood why QLD is the sunshine state when WA has the most sunny days on average..

This is 900 km per day about 10 hours highway with 2 fuel stops and you get a good 8hrs rest each day

Gday..mate and i drove from manjimup ( WA )..to cairns QLD...IN EARLY 80s... in a beat up HQ HOLDEN...A carton of MARLBORO,..20 litres of water,..a couple of OZZES of QUEENSLAND HEADS,.and a large bag of cadbury chocolates ( for munchies )...and a shitload of hope,,..hit a roo on the nullabor,..it came into the car,..via the windscreen..WE BOTH EXITED ..VIA SAME WINDSCREEN..after much screaming and shitting...DROVE THE LAST 400 clicks without windscreen to Ceduna..HAD IT REPLACED..and a tape ..ONE TAPE....STEVIE RAY VAUGHN...TEXAS FLOOD...and i gotta tell you folks..by the time we hit Cairns...we knew every RIFF BY HEART......when we drove back to west aussie...we bought another tape....more choof ,..more chocolates.....to break the boredom......now that was a roadtrip..

This isn’t really that hard! I live about 2 hour southwest of Melbourne and I’ve drove from my house to Townsville in about 26 hours? That’s over 3000km in just over a day!

Try Sydney to Perth....actually don't it sucks
