Gotta say though, if you check the year-to-date revenue for Hasbro, they're up. Crashing for a while now, but still more value than they were this time last year
ОтветитьJust here for my quarterly check in to see if Hasbro have finally conceded... Can't say it looks like anything has improved from the video titles :p
ОтветитьAt 1 point in my life, I really truly thought that I would teach my son to play Magic and that we would love it together, and it would be something that we'd have as a memory, the way the company is going. Any other game would be better for that.
ОтветитьThis is why I love the '93/'94 format, pure magic nostalgia and affordable.
ОтветитьThe game has been broken ever since planes walkers became a thing
ОтветитьA space deck would be dope in its own universe. They must be separate. In short, this is devastating.
ОтветитьThey fuckin killed magic.
ОтветитьWho's raging. I was at prerelease and nobody there was angry about it. I swear this guy is starting to become the news I watch in the morning.
ОтветитьThey won't care about old fans any more. They're pivoting to new ones. Short term profits over long term tegridy and loyalty.
LoL did this, too. Many games/products do this. Sigh.
MtG players are starting to realize they've been overpaying like crazy for cardboard pieces over decades. :D
Get singles if you want real cards. Boxes are a scam.
Interesting fact: WOTC is actually part of the marketing division for Pokémon, keyforge, yugioh, flesh and blood, and many many more card games. They built up a wonderful game with an amazing player base just as a ploy. Stage two is to burn it to the ground, to try and force people to spill into their clients games. It’s pretty S-Tier strategy if you ask me
Jokes aside: Hasbro/WOTC can suck it, because they reallllllllllllly suck already.
I started playing right around when Ice Age came out. I miss the days when it was just WotC. I don’t know if it would do any good or not, but at this point, I’d welcome the return of Richard Garfield
ОтветитьWotc presents: MTG Universes beyond sets for Cheers, Mork & Mindy, and Alf!
ОтветитьTo be honest I think the combat change is a flavor fail, if you were charging at me and my friend with a butcher knife I would have the ability to stand in front of my friend and it would be very difficult for you to stab him before getting through me. I really don't know how the attacker could choose who they attack first.
ОтветитьHoly shit you're right... Tarkir is the only actual Magic set for the entire year. It's actually worse than I thought was possible.
Jesus...
If UB is selling so well, why do they need to add it to Standard?
ОтветитьHell, they lost me when they rotated modern for the 3rd time.
ОтветитьYeah, rules changes don't effect me much... my friends and I play boomer rules: What it says on the card is what it says (unless I can convince you it says what favors me most😂), don't waste your money on all the new sets they vomit out, and just enjoy magic the gathering as we did in the 90's & 00's... no cards banned, no decks off limits, just have fun and occasionally crack affordable retro packs whenever we want to pull something new...
ОтветитьWe need Sega and Nintendo collabs!!! OMG This is the BEST!
Ответитьif someone pulls a spider man out vs my skeleton, im probably not playing another game lol
ОтветитьIm surprised they didnt try to make a voltron secret lair with 5 cards being 1 of each robot that can come together to make voltron by flipping the cards over and having the limbs on the back.
ОтветитьEh, you're still casting spells. It'll always be Magic.
ОтветитьThe sun is setting on a part of our lives that we shared and cared about. Just like so many other things from the good old simpler times that are getting so much harder to reach back to.
ОтветитьThe Final Fantasy Set could be good and Takak, the rest is not good
ОтветитьSo if the majority, if not all, of mtg players boycott these upcoming secret lairs and just buy the current and older sets/cards, won't it jack up its (current and old) prices even for commons and uncommons?
ОтветитьIf this is true, im out Wizards. I've looked the other way while UB cards like the One Ring and Bowmasters bastardized formats. I've been a player since 95', but if this is their plan, tho only thing that will remain of Magic will be it's name. This isn't Magic.
ОтветитьHello Mr hatcher, or anyone that can answer this preferably with some kind of proof or a wordy enough explanation. But what happened to in universe versions of universe beyond cards. We've had probably half a dozen or so properties come out with no information on in universe copies. I think wotc has just said if we push out enough product then people will forget.
Ответитьindeed dark, I dont like it one bit
ОтветитьUniverse beyond killed magic the gathering for me. I finally quit it a few months ago. I played a little bit in the late 90s and early 2000s. And then I came back in 2015 and solidly played till spring 2024. Capitalism ruins another wonderful thing. Sucks too magic. The gathering lore and universe was my favorite. Despite its problems.Oh well, moving on.
ОтветитьKilling Sheoldred with Your Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman will make more ropes than all the sailboats of history
ОтветитьMTG secret lairs just needs to give me more psa 10 cards and I’ll be happy 🥰
ОтветитьIf anyone still played Standard in person, it'd be funny to hear the Spongebob impressions for all of 10 minutes before violence started.
Ответитьanybody lays
a spongebob
down just
flip the table
Me: There are only so many IPs that mesh with Magic...
WotC: Hold my Squidworth.
This is why I've always believed that Universes Beyond needed to have its own card back so that we can keep UB separate from real MtG
ОтветитьWelp you fools keep buying their product so ty for what YOU have done!
ОтветитьAlso if they doing this I DEMAND a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure set XD
ОтветитьCan we stop sucking on marvels dingaling, Also on the lore, they could expand on it by killing off characters and introducing new characters that stick around longer than 1 set. cough kill jace cough
Ответить😮 Noooo, my shins! 😮
ОтветитьMaybe they're just putting the next few universes beyond sets into standard because they know those are going to be the last big IPs they can milk. If they get a big influx of players now, they can refocus on their own IP with an increased player base later. If not, life just got a lot cheaper because I can skip more than half of the sets. It won't be long before new formats emerge that obly use in universe cards as well.
ОтветитьI been playing off and on for my life since I was like 8 like 30 years ago I think not reprinting cards hurts it more cards shouldn't be un affordable
ОтветитьMagic is a complete mess right now, I'm so very glad to hear that I'm not the only one who thinks so.
Sons of bitches!!!
It's the death of the combat trick. Maybe this means that they will be pushing up the power level of these tips of cards.
ОтветитьI know people disagree, but some sets like final fantasy (depending of the games) and assassin's creed can blend well with magic, my problem is with things like spiderman and spongebob
ОтветитьI've given this some thought since the vid came out. I think this is the end of MTG. The game isn't mechanics with any theme, It';s mechanics with a fantasy theme. The use of revolving door IPs is grabbing a transient crowd instead of building a player base. In this model, every time you grab a crowd, you lose a crowd, and then the string of big IPs runs out. WOTC doesn't care. They will move on to something else.
Ответить"I am going to flash a Voltorb, tap it to crew The Titanic and sac it to blow your Sonic the Hedgehog then I go to attacks swing with The Titanic alongside my Jesse Pinkman which is equipped with Vega's Claws and a Cigarette so it triggers a special move. Second Main, I am going to tap a Castle Grayskull and sac these Dollar tokens in order to add one purple and cash five money to consume a Big Mac and gain 250 calories. Pass..."
ОтветитьSo, they're going to start doing licensed content for standard? Like is the Tokyo drift crap gonna be standard?
Ответить(((Rosewater))) will do what (((Rosewater))) will do.
Seriously, this is an ethnic phenomena across the board.
Try Flesh and Blood. You won't regret it and they won't do this bullshit. 💪
ОтветитьWelcome to Monoopoly: The Gathering
As a store owner, I'm legitimately thinking of dropping Magic like many other shops have at this point. I'm not keeping $$$$$$ of stock invested in carrying singles or for the non-existent margins on sealed at this point. The company has outright lied or several years about their direction. Hasbro did this exact same UB type stuff with Monopoly, I give magic 4-5 years before a significant base collapse.
The only way Magic and WoTC are going to be saved at this point is breaking from and gaining independence from Hasbro. Because they are literally being used as life support for Hasbro's failing behemoth of a business.
