For air frying, try Chris Young (ex development chef for Heston). He’s got an odd but very good method. Tried it the other day and they were fantastic.
ОтветитьThere's another option for crispy deep-fried potato sticks; cold oil frying, and no it's not like cold-brew coffee or something, it's just simply starting your frying in cold oil, letting the potatoes essentially blanche in the oil as it gently heats up to the full frying temperaature where they get all nice and crispy... :)
ОтветитьAlso a very good way of doing nice fluffy roasties as well is boiling them before hand
ОтветитьPerry the platypus?
ОтветитьNot a real place we got Mario’s in Kingswood 😂
Or the clock tower
YUM, can't wait to make them. We call those potatoes in the US russet potatoes. Thanks Barry, Melaney from Southern California
ОтветитьBarry - it's the Clock Tower Fish Bar in Kingswood that you're thinking of, not "Mr Chippy".
Ответитьu just made steak fries
Ответитьso you basically explained WHY michelin fries cost what they cost... cause the procedure of doing them is a bit more than what frying up chips
ОтветитьHey Barry mate ! I have a challenge for you ! I would love you to make Thornton's Viennese Truffles ! They have to be EXACTLY the same as Thornton's, not just similar ! I want to make them but I can't find a recipe anywhere !
ОтветитьAwesome Video Barry Lewis🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
ОтветитьBarry… my grandad owns an award winning chip shop. You should season them as soon as they come out of the fryer and then let the oil dry and have the (salt) seasoning stick to them
ОтветитьWhy am I watching this Im on a diet.
ОтветитьThose look like really good chips Barry. Made me feel proper hungry though. 🤣
ОтветитьLooks awesome. im on it.
ОтветитьFryer Tuck In isn't it?
ОтветитьAnyone else see the spooky face at 8.25
ОтветитьJust figured out why it's named "Tuck"😂😂. Very good❤
ОтветитьPro tip for air fryer chips mate. Chip your spuds as normal. Rinse. Pat dry. Cover/spray them in oil. Place in a bowl andddddd. Microwave them for 3/4 minutes. Then cook in the air fryer until golden. Taste like Nannan chips cooked in a chip pan. You’re welcome. 🫶🏻
ОтветитьLOL took me forever to figure out what the gramnut oil you was talking about was ( had to google that and it came up with ground nut oil ) . I do know peanut oil thank goodness . LOL I need to try this .
ОтветитьI use to make some naughty chips by using 50/50 lard and beef drippings in my old Tefal deep fryer.
I use Vivaldi potatoes from Sainsbury’s, way better than Pipers; especially if you get the ones with (Origins from Israel.)
My wife loves the crunchy bits of fries and I love the more tender ones. We’re a good pair. Also watching Barry dancing around with fries/chips made my day.
ОтветитьNOT VEGAN
Ответитьheh fryer Tuck
ОтветитьBarry, chips and fries ARE NOT the same thing in America
ОтветитьAmazing need to try. Have you tried Nigella Lawson chips though. Raw potatoes chopped put into cold oil with garlic and rosemary then turn the heat up until they are cooked. Really really crispy and soft and fluffy in the inside.
ОтветитьWouldn't call them the world best all depends on the dishbits with fish a chips you want soft chips, they would be ok with steak or a burger.
Also heston isnt really telling the truth the method is done in Chinese have been doing twice an triple cooked chips forever.
Lolz, the dance skill! 😂 And, of course, the Robin Hood reference.
ОтветитьSomething I had come across that would be interesting to see you do is some braided "chips" "fries". I first saw it on pintrest but I seen other videos about it if you do a search for it and find one you like more. I would be interesting to see those done in the air frier as well!
ОтветитьRobin Hood
ОтветитьHi Barry!
How many do you think you can air fry at once in a "typical" air fryer?
I dont like/am scared of/etc deep frying.. But bit concerned you only made about 5 at once here.. which is .. well. not realistic if i need to feed family ...
Barry, can you take oven chips to another level ?
ОтветитьI love extra crispy fries (chips) too🍟
So delicious 😋
Fryer Tuck is awesome💚
I hope Boston got the floor chip!
ОтветитьBarry, PEEL YOUR DAMN POTATOS!!!
ОтветитьQuick tip: whenever you're skimming anything off the top of a pot of liquid, fill a bowl part way with water, and dunk your spoon or ladle into the water as you dump whatever you're skimming off into it. The water in the bowl will strip off what you're skimming, so it doesn't cling to the spoon/ladle and go back into the pot, and you don't have to keep going over to the sink.
ОтветитьYou say fried bread life its a bad thing 8^)
ОтветитьGot it, it’s fryer tuck from Robin Hood 🤣🤣
ОтветитьI love how excited and enthusiastic Barry is about the food he makes.
It's so infectious and adds to the appeal of his channel
Watching this whilst noshing on my Spanish Red Chicken is a good notion.
Also, in these United States, most people would call those chips "steak fries," because that's the thickness a lot of steakhouses typically cut them. The thrice-cooking method is a good thought. It's worked for McDonald's for decades.
You need to watch Chris youngs air fryer chips video, the guy was one of his chefs at the fst duck
ОтветитьLay a paper towel on top of the water and the starch sticks to the paper when you take it out
ОтветитьWe love Fryer Tuck, the holiest Fryer in all the land
ОтветитьDon't be a food snob. Being a food snob makes food more expensive and less accessible for everyone.
ОтветитьI have made these and they are just a meal to enjoy on their own mmmmm
ОтветитьYou missed a trick with Hugh. Should have called him Stephen Fry.😃
ОтветитьThose just look way overcooked to me. But then again I like mine pale and a wee bit soggy. 😂
ОтветитьThey’re definitely Michelin star chips…..less than your digits worth! 😂 Could barely fill a bag with that lot!
Ответить
