bothers me is Connors still no 1 for 109 singles titles plus only player ever to win US ON 3 DIFFERENT SURFACES is largely forgotten
Ответитьรอชมค่ะ
ОтветитьRecall as a kid was super excited in ,Chicago,to watch Jimbo and McEnroe clash...pity..Jimbo gave a walkover....
Ответитьcan you do one on Lendl vs McENROE who played 1980, 1982, 1984-85 Finals and 1987 Quarters ?
ОтветитьMcEnroe 1984 season, he was unbelievable , the following season , I don't think he won a grand slam again Becker, edberg wilander, lendl just took over a period he should of dominated in the late 80s then agassi and Sampras
ОтветитьGreat players, great champions, divas.
ОтветитьThe quality of this footage is brilliant
ОтветитьI was 10 years when they first met. Connors was bigger than life. Even here in the USA. And tennis was huge here back then!
You could see tennis magazines everywhere!
Borg also was in the middle of his legendary career...
Most young people will never have a chance to experience the magic of tennis here in the USA back then...
Those were great matches. Not now.
ОтветитьThank goodness line calls are so much better today. You can feel the frustration of players bybad calls that wouldn't be overturned. To try and droen your frustration of the unfairness of it and bring your concentration back on the game requires a very strong will.
ОтветитьIt was Billy the Kid vs Wyatt Earp shoot-outs.
ОтветитьIrish blood is pure passion and fire.
ОтветитьThese 2 guys were not tennismen, they were actors. Theirs matches were theatre plays! The 2 greatest showmen (with Nastase) that tennis had ever known. How nostalgic I am for this time❤❤
ОтветитьI loved them both then, and as they've grown older, Mac has aged like wine and Connors is just a whining old lady really. All his past disrespects, especially toward Lendl, who continually kicked his rear end through a decade into the 90s....have not aged well.
ОтветитьThis was when even non tennis fans watched and lived it!
ОтветитьConners was a twerp and an unclassy punk.
ОтветитьThis doesn’t tell me anything.
They were both great players in their own ways .
A match between these two is what got me into tennis. I loved everything about them. Their theatrics and skills were great for a 10 year old.
ОтветитьReal warriors and champs! Johni Mac forever!
Ответитьball sports are lame.
Ответитьinsane nonsensical video. random clips, no narrative, ridiculous.
ОтветитьJimmy Connors was the tennis player who turned tennis into a spectacle and a massive sport. It must be remembered that tennis was an elitist sport with little coverage in the media. Connors' arrival in tennis was essential for this sport, since his irreverent and provocative style infected the young public of that time, becoming a character loved and hated at the same time, generating the effect of competition and rivalries outside and inside the tennis court, something that tennis needed to become a mass sport and attractive to television stations. Its importance as the catalyst that changed tennis forever is really little recognized!!
ОтветитьHe played the French nowhere near that often. You probably should read his book.
ОтветитьWAIT A SECOND!!!!! Where did this John Facenda narration come from?
ОтветитьBack when tennis was so awesome, absolutely sux now
ОтветитьI could see hating McEnroe if I were a man in the 80s…but I was born in the 80s
ОтветитьWhat can you say McEnroe was best ever at this time he just couldn't keep it up after 1984 but age catcher up when younger players came
ОтветитьI think they dislike each other because they are so much alike.
ОтветитьPeak Johnny Mac was supremely entertaining!! Exciting stuff, thanks for this!
ОтветитьThis rivalry unlike Larry and Magic was between a rich guy and a poor guy by birth. Larry and Magic both grew up poor. So their was a mutual respect for one another. That wasn't the case with Jimmy and Johnny Mac. They didn't like one another on or off the court. It was truly fierce. I started playing tennis competitively because of these two. Their July 4th Final in the 1982 Wimbledon me s singles was one of the best matches ever played. Maybe Federer and Roddick in 2009 and Nadal and Federer in 2008 were better finals at the All-England Clubs.
ОтветитьAND THEN VITAS WAS MURDERED AT A FRiends home
Ответитьhow about 1982 wimbledon ?
ОтветитьBest rivalry ever in tennis.
