I’m SO envious of your beautiful house and its wonderful location. I know that my friend, who’ll be a first time visitor, will relish your insights and suggestions. Thank you, as always, and happy Sunday! P.S. - after hearing you describe food dishes, I’m craving Italian snacks and delicacies. 😊

Elyssa! Just returned from our visit to Rome May 18-21st! Your info on this channel is absolutely a key to our success! Pushed ourselves hard by booking early, but absolutely the thing to do! Utilized Walks of Italy to take the Pristine Sistine tour and the Colosseum/ Palatine Hills/ Roman Forum tour. To our surprise, we were treated to a private tour of the Colosseum , etc! The young lady handling the reservation line said “it’s your lucky day, you have a private tour!” Wow, what a fabulous day! Enjoyed the green line hop on hop off bus 2 days, ( took a side trip to Pompeii by high speed train one day) and also…. and one of my favorites was a Rome by Night- golf cart tour. This is where I finally had a glimpse of the romance of Rome, more quiet, fabulous view points over the city, and everything lit up with the soft lights. I was simply swept off my feet by the feeling!! My most favorite ( being Catholic) was going to Santa Maria Maggiore. We were weary from our morning at the Colosseum, so I asked a kind officer how we could visit just the Basílica and not be in the long lines waiting to see Pope Francis. He told us to go around the corner of the church and we could enter there. Well, the whole section was cordoned off by metal fences. All of a sudden, the guard standing there swept open the fence and we entered! We were in the line to see the final resting place of His Holiness. I wept openly at the sight, and visiting the chapel next to him where he prayed consistently to the Mother and Child. Simply overwhelming. Thank you so much for your dedication to helping us plan for our journey to Rome. It made the trip easy and so memorable! ❤️🙌

Hi,

I need your advice. I have booked 3:00 PM tickets for St. Peter’s Basilica and 5:00 PM for the Vatican Museums on the same day in October.

My friend told me I chose the wrong times because it will be crowded. What do you suggest I do?

Thank you :)

Hi Elyssa,
I last visited 2019. Much has surely changed with post 2020 Covid tourist flood and Jubilee this year. We're going 3rd week of June and have followed all your planning tips. We have our St Peter's reservation with dome booked and Vatcan Museum a few hours after. Landed direct Colusseum with attic tickets. And a late afternoon, Boeghese Gallery reservation prepared. We thank you for your helpful tips to help ensure a more smooth flow and wonderful and colorful experience next month. Every video is so informative. 5 full days and we're covered for the highest deman sites in advance🎉. I thank you for the months of these special, current, non-biased, altruistic tips❤. I can't wait to share how much all your kind help will maximize the quality in the Etnernal City.
Thank you with much gratitude,
Evan😊

One thing I’d highly recommend for June travelers, bring a refillable water bottle. Those little fountains all over Rome are lifesavers when it’s hot, and the water is cold, clean, and free. Also, we packed linen pants and light scarves and they made such a difference, especially when entering churches like St. Peter’s. We did the Colosseum early in the morning and the Forum in the late afternoon, perfect timing to avoid the worst heat. And book everything early, even our favorite restaurants were full if we waited until the day-of. Rome in June is magical but planning ahead really makes it shine. ✨

Thank you for all the info, I find your videos very helpful. Quick question, will the Mass on the Feast on June 29 be outside in St. Peter’s square or inside the Church? On the website it says inside and I’ve requested tickets, wiring for an answer. But you mentioned outside in the square which gives me more hope.

Getting through St Peter’s security is WAY easier than going through (American) airport security. Dress with the deserved respect the place one visits merits, including nice dinner establishments, if the staff is dressed up, leave the shorts, hats, and hoodies in the hotel.

Buongiorno Elyssa. In the middle of my Rome visit and I want to thank you for two suggestions. Domus Aurea was fascinating and so worth it. As was the visit to the Necropolis under St. Peter’s Basilica. Terrific guides for both and well worth it. After a private tour with 15 people, what a surprise to end up inside the Basilica and the wall to wall visitors. Yikes. Also the Attico at the Colosseum was a great unique way to see it with no crowds. Less than 10 people were up there when I visited. Another tip I stumbled on accidentally to enter the Roman Forum through the Fora Imperiali side. I walked right in.

Finally observation and question. It looks like they are setting up the main Fora Imperiali for some type of parade. Do you know what that is? Same for the Circus Maximus (saw what looked like maybe a stage) and the St. Peter’s plaza. I assume lots of Jubilee events. Grazie mille.

Hi Elyssa! Thank you for your wonderful and helpful videos… I can’t wait for the next one! I’ll be in Rome at the end of June with my family and you have helped us a lot!!! Qe are going to arrive on Wednesday night to Fiumicino at 11:00 PM. I pressume that at that tome the teansport could be difficult… Do you know if at that time there are taxis available or if it is better to make a teansport reservation with a company? What do you recommend? Thank you on advanced 😊

Another informative video Elyssa! Thank you.
We will be in Rome on June 19th before heading to Tuscany. We will be heading from St Peter’s Basilica to our hotel in Trastevere at ~6:30pm and I am excited to learn about the Summerfest along the river. If we walk to our hotel, will we encounter this festival? … which might make that walk more enjoyable (stop for a drink). (Google maps says it is a 24 minute walk to the hotel, routing us along the river.) Or, would a taxi be a better idea? after being on our feet all afternoon?
And while I have you … could you possibly provide me with the exact location for a taxi rank nearest to St. Peter’s, just in case we decide to use one?
I appreciate your help!

Hi,

Tomorrow is our last day in Rome. So far we have done

Colosseum
Roman Forum and Palatine Hill
Trevi Fountains
Pantheon
Spanish Steps

Tomorrow at 9 we are doing the Vatican mussels and Sistine chapel followed by Basiilica

Not sure what to do for the rest of the day from 12pm onwards any ideas would love to see a museum with history of Rome that’s not too expensive. Party of 3 people
