Great advice - as a local I agree with everything you've said! I often go for a run on the mall in the mornings or evenings and that's definitely the best time to see all of the monuments without huge groups 👍

If your flight lands late in the day like ours did and everything is closed I suggest hoping on a bike and ride around the monuments at night when lit up. Beautiful!

The MLK memorial was stunning to see. It is really cool to see all the memorials in person after seeing them on TV all of my life. Taking a bus tour is a great way to see the city. I enjoy your videos very much. They are informative.

Just a request? It would be beneficial for your viewers if you could possibly slow down a bit. You give great content, but you rush thru it. I had to review 3 times to understand what you were saying. Not sure if this is due to video timing issues or other? Otherwise, great videos. Many thanks

Can you bring your own bicycle to the national mall? Do they have bike parking areas?

Constitution Gardens was one of my favorite parts of the National Mall. It's cool to see the signatures of the Declaration of Independence engraved into the bricks.

Rob. I wanted to thank you for your tips, which proved more than useful when I went to DC a fortnight ago. I travelled by Amtrak from NY and getting my Smarttrip card, then riding the metro was very straightforward. Well, as I've lived in big cities, such as Paris and now London, I'm more than familiar with subways.
You were absolutely right, as I didn't have much time and had a hard trouble finding my hotel, I set off for the National Mall by 1pm, and after getting there by the Circulator, I DID a lot of walking indeed. The food trucks on the National Mall are ridiculously expensive and the food they serve is lousy... The fountains were out of order, which was terrible considering the scorching heat...
I somehow managed to see most of the monuments, considering that a heavy thunderstorm left me stranded at the Lincoln Memorial for about 1 hour. I followed your advice and headed to the Arlington national cemetery from behind the steps of the Abbey Lincoln Memorial, took a stroll over the bridge, and visited the Unkown soldier's grave, where I could watch the changing of the guard, then went to see Kennedy's 'Eternal Flame'. I then took the metro to the White House. I appreciated the fact you specified in one of your videos which was the actual closest station to get there. I even returned after 9pm to take pics.

I skipped the sites I wasn't that interested in and focused on what I really wanted to see. The following day I was riding around in the Circulator and visited the Air and Space even had time to go to the National Portrait Gallery before heading to Union station to take my train back to NY.

Your sound advice really helped me make my way around. Keep up the good work!

Good info - thanks. Do you know about the reverberation point at the Einstein memorial? It became my favorite point in D.C.!

I’m gonna try the circulator bus to get us around the monuments and definitely try to see some of the monuments at night on my upcoming trip.

For food, Go to the Independence Avenue or Constitution Ave sides and check the office buildings. Many of them have cafeterias, luncheonettes, or food courts. They have decent food that’s reasonably priced. There’s good food at Federal Triangle, the Reagan building, etc. Also, if you’re going to go to a food cart, the ones that are frequented by workers are a better deal. If you’re at a hot dog cart, ask for the half smoke. It’s a DC treat you’re not going to find anywhere else.

Question regarding safety: I've heard the National Mall itself is heavily policed, but what about surrounding streets?  Let's say, I'm walking on foot to the National Mall from the Washington Court Hotel, or perhaps from Union Station.  Just walking out in the open ---- is that unsafe?

I am traveling with little ones (stroller) any tips for this??? I don’t see a video that’s specifically for this. If you do have one please point it out. I’m asking because I see (via their website) that the Washington monument doesn’t allow strollers inside. So are there areas we can park or store while visiting this monument?
