SINGING While SICK? What to Do if You're Sick and Need to SING!

I’m sick and I’m a working musician with a gig to do! Being a touring musician means sickness is inevitable. I’ve performed sick more times than I can count. Over the years as a working musician, I’ve developed a routine to get me through those tough days when I’m sick and need to sing on stage. In this video, I share one of my most memorable (and mortifying) stories about performing while sick, along with tips I’ve picked up to help musicians who might face the same situation.

What do you do when you’re sick and you need to sing or perform? When illness strikes, I focus on what I’ve learned best prepares me for the show instead of trying to "get better" in one day. I’ve got a toolkit of go-to remedies, drinks, warm-up vocal exercise that work to get me prepared to sing. And there are also some things I’ve learned NOT to do along the way if I need to be at my best when it’s time to perform.
