RTR to Race Buggy Upgrades - Best Race Upgrades for your RTR RC car

Almost 15 years on and it goes to show the OG HB D8 is still a wicked good buggy.

I have the Vorza nitro truggy and found the optional 3 shoe clutch/flywheel setup was a noticeable improvement over the stock 2 shoe setup.

I have no desire to race but I'd love the option. Closest track to me is nearly 3 hours. I know 4 other people in my area who are into RC's and one of them does mini crawlers and the other is a Traxxass minion. If the hobby relied on my area to keep it going it wouldn't last long. I've only got a couple dozen or so in my collection and people look at me like I'm an alien when they find out. Most legitimately think RC cars come from Walmart and have no idea the actual hobby exist.

Put some tire-ups for protection.

Small thing that applies to some 8th scale RTRs like the Kyosho ones, shock boots. Having shock boots will help keep the shock seals fresh for longer and keep your suspension moving smoother for longer. It also means you don't have to rebuild the shocks as often.

If you plan to race better to start with the kit. As you will spend more upgrading in the long run.
But if you already have the vehicle and then decide to race then I agree with you. I raced my Arrma Typhon and Talion before upgrading to Tekno. And did ok. But once going to Tekno or other race grade vehicles it’s definitely a big difference
