I hope they get rid of reactions and introduce alternate activation or simultaneous turns instead.
The rest is fine except the odd balance issue that needs adressing.

So I’ve got big scars from the X-Wing edition change from 2.0 to 2.5 - essentially the fundamental changes in that edition change broke my love for the game and I went from playing weekly to not at all.

So that’s on top of the natural change aversion which means I want at most a tidy up and update. Fix heavy weapon reactions, tweak the flyers, but especially keep the flexibility and ability to do conversions and have your own armies not cookie cutter forces

I'm of the mind that a new edition is not needed. Maybe a 2.5 edition that cleans up difficulties in the current rules but a full reset edition makes me worried due to GWs recent track record (10th ed). But, worst case scenario if a new edition drops and its bad, we can just keep playing HH2 and make more house rules to fix the issues.

If GW really want to mess up HH could we all not just agree to stay at 2nd edition and reject 3rd as a community (if they 40k that is)

In my opinion, changing brutal to just multiple wounds, removing wounds spilling over in vehicle squadrons (e.g. making them to something like Talons) and points adjustments is absolutely enough for quite a few more years. I see militia and solar struggling a bit cmpared to everything else but maybe points adjustments there and changes to vehicle squadrons might be enough to fix it.

Just started playing Heresy. At first glance it may seem more complicated than 40K, but once you get the hang of the USRs, it’s really not. Enjoying heresy way more than 40K 10th.

Only thing I'd like to see honestly is a complete rework of Thousand Sons. They got their flavour so wrong on every level, multiple units are unusable or massively undertuned, and they're frustrating to play. Top example, being the only legion in the whole game that can actively lose their legion trait feels so bad.

Limiting war gear? Please no. If that happens I can see a lot in the community sticking with 2.0 and rejecting 3rd.

It's funny.
I want the perks of a new edition: New minis, new amazing value boxsets, reworked old minis, more support from GW etc
But I don't want the negatives of a new edition, especially with GW's track record in 40k. I don't want 30k to become a Tri-annual refresh system. Make it 5,6 even 8 year cycles but give us a SOLID and WELL THOUGHT OUT FAQ to clarify rules and points cost, fix stuff like tanks and maybe even dreadnoughts (some people still dislike them)

@tomdudley5314 - 15.08.2024 14:20

Only HH V2.5 is needed, i.e comprehensive FAQ, points rebalance and just removing/changing certain rules and keywords. For me rending on certain units seems OP (i'd just make all rending into breaching) and characters and artificer armour saves on units (the distorts wound allocation and makes it ridiculous IMO). Brutal and precision strikes are other examples or at least have points reflect those rules.

Play testing should be a professional activity, paid for and done in an organized and structured environment. It's a hugely important part of the process and should be taken seriously like it is in other industries.

New boxset - of course.
Playtesters invited to WW - Pretty standard.
New edition is a significant overhaul - 7th to 8th ... I bet it goes straight to 9th 40k style.
Changes to force org chart - sounds like 9th edition style detachments.
Wargear going to what's in the box - sounds like 9th edition.
Legacy units gone - sounds like ranges getting removed and reworked - happened a lot in 40k.
3rd edition already at the printers - hmm not sure about that one, but I know they have plan this massively in advance.

Well ... I think it's becoming 9th edition 40k leading into competitive meta ... sad times.

Realistically HH2.0 needs a huge overall in a few major spots.. Right now the game quality has dropped dramatically from what it was.

Terrain rules are terrible (except for Zone), point values need a big adjustment as rule of cool only goes so far, legions need to better balanced and the scoring and missions need to be fixed.. Progessisive scoring would be much better for dynamic games

A new edition is needed, 1.0 was soooo much better than what we have now. No army diversity, just the same thing over and over again and absolute garbage balance. While the new plastic models did help out the 30k community the trash rules of 2.0 did not.

@jamescollett2385
@jamescollett2385 - 15.08.2024 15:40

My favourite fixes that i would make: Reduce dreadnought saves to 3+.
Change squadrons to work like talons.
Can only fire as part of a reaction once.
Precision shots allocated before the wound rolls start, ie allocated to pots for models before wounding.
Tank hull points to be increased and used as wounds and current penatrating hit explodes result in +d3 wounds taken.

@bababo0oey297 - 15.08.2024 16:25

They better not. They've made one half-assed FAQ that barely fixed anything. 40k gets an FAQ at least once a month. If they just trash the edition because "we do 3 year cycles now" without even trying to fix the game it will really show how much they value the 30K community.

Any step towards modern WH40k will make me quite HH. Like Pardo said, modern 40k killed the hobby side of the game. This and the focus on the crying competitive crowd have turned 10th into the most bland and boring thing.

Some harrowing stuff here. Dumbing down Heresy to cater to essentially 40k players to bring in more players or just changing it for change sake sucks. We dont want 40k. The kits being limited will kill off Heresy. Heresy attracts good modeler's and painters because of the choices. Its always ben that way since 1.0. Killing that basically kills why the game is so good. Not filled with confidence at all.

Dreadnoughts, Flyers, Thousand Sons rules, etc come to mind!

Just remove the orks wacky weird stuff and have mega mega nobs and prime ork for a leader 🤷

The two big things I have observed that need to be ammended are Contemptors (either cost or nerf) and reactions, particularly shooting reactions, they are just too strong. Stopping a unit being able to shoot react in every phase of the enemy turn (move/intercept, shooting/return fire, assault/overwatch), just once total for the whole enemy turn, and making it -1 BS at least as while I like its not only on 6s, at normal BS is too strong.

The game is just getting An update and significant rebalance of the legions that were tested in a biased way and sorting rule issues
It's not a full new version
As per information I've received
GW had no interest in updating the game
It was supposed to be one rules set and a release cycle of 10 years
The game was two years behind schedule before covid hit so they may have been under alot of pressure, combined with testing issues and we are at this point today.

Most of those rumours made me pretty sad. New boxset? Sure, I'll bite. Significant overhaul? No thanks. People who play heresy tend to be gamers who want the complexity and narrative potential of the 7th edition style gameplay. All I'd want from a new edition is some tidying up and a few balance fixes. After a few more years I could see them making some substantial rules changes, but at this point it feels way too early and I'd expect anything to be half-baked and broken, just like 40k is at the moment. Not to mention that if they dumb down wargear in any way, I'll riot. Stuff like this just kills my motivation to engage with anything GW related.

I do not want a new edition, and will not play it or buy anything for it.

I got into Heresy because 1.0 had a long shelf life. If they break with that precident, I will drop the last GW games I play and leave the books to look pretty on the shelf.

GW games are not the best, but Im willing to pay a certain tax to stay connected witha larger community- I know I can find a store in any town I live in that has some people playing Warhammer. I'm not willing to re-buy the entire game every 2-3 years.

Should intercept rule be changed? For fast things
Heavy weapons take time to setup in any time of current war - in the future there just as heavy because of power needs etc… so is a lascannon trooper really as agile as a assault type weapon - no

What if heavy support man portable weapons have to roll 6’s then re-roll damage due to speed of fast things this would work from a themes perspective

I think I could handle many of those changes, depending on the details, but dropping wargear and kitbash options would probably be a deal breaker for me by itself. Loosing all the legion specific legacy units would be hard to swallow as well.

I suspect it would be the deal breaker for many.

You can also have a downgrade / side grade with inductii per unit

I'd be really bummed if legacy units went away - I have a Primaris Lightning (tooled with rad missiles and phosphex bombs from last edition) and a Primus Nullificator and Nullificator squad for my White Scars, and I'd be very disappointed to not be able to field them. (And why not bring back the old options so my Destroyer-themed army can have thematic Lightning support?!?!)
Also, a 5-6 year cycle is perfect to me! Three years is WAY too fast.
It's also interesting you guys say Old World was awful because I'm hearing from elsewhere that it did phenomenally well (and was likely limited by the lack of available product). Either way, I think we can all agree GW's production issues are hurting them badly!

I wouldn't be nervous if they released the rules of their games for free, and if the models were still playable.

These rumors make me very nervous.

All I want is for the Heresy to go back to what Blight envisioned for it. Big massive Infantry Formations like Tacs as the Core and Heart of the Army and then some varied flavor of Units or Legion special Units. This game gets more and more into the problems of modern 40k where some units are just way too powerful or cheaply priced. It ruins even narrative games to some point

On the 3d printing front the technology has really been around for 40 odd years its just accessible at home now. Problem is, resin printing isn't inherently easy OR safe at home. I don't think it's gonna somehow become as easy to use like a microwave or something anytime soon.

Sure lots oh hobbyists do it. The vast vast majority don't and some of those that do are gonna get a rude awakening in 20 years when they are sick.

It feels like there's a specific underlying concern presented by all these rumors: that Heresy retaining as much of it's 7th ed framework was a bug, not a feature.

They paint the idea that GW just didn't have enough time because of Covid to gut out the rules and make it more streamlined like 40k.
