Apparently they got a company that did real News credit sequences and just told them to go mental and as ridiculous as they've ever wanted to.
ОтветитьMan ALL your reactions fkn kill me 😂😂
ОтветитьThe '94 world cup was pretty easy to understand. Six groups of four teams, top two progress to the 'playoffs' alongside 4 wildcards (top 4 third place finishers). The same as it had been in the previous 2 world cups. What was different was that the groups were no longer played in two stadium in close proximity to one another (allowing each team to be based close to the stadium), instead each group featured three stadiums, with little regard for geography. Ireland for example played in New York, then Orlando then back to New York, with DC also hosting games in group E. Germanys group C had games in Boston, Chicago and Dallas. This would have caused some confusion at the time; and given the size of America and the different climates it mattered where a team played. Ireland beat Italy and tied Norway in New York, where the climate was closer to home and there would be significant support from Americans of Irish heritage, verses in Orlando where they lost to Mexico. In the end though this model was followed on subsequent world cups, so would no longer be seen as unusual.
The '26 world cup still isnt quite pushing the 14 groups that Alan Partridge claimed on the D2D. Instead there will be Twelve groups of 4, top two progress alongside 8 wildcards. Essentially just doubling what happened in '94. There will actually be 'some' geographical considerations for the group stages with the groups split into three regions (East, Central and West) but this has been partially abandoned. For example Group A (featuring co-hosts Mexico) having 5 games in the three Mexican cities (officially Central region) and 1 game in Atlanta (officially East). But even when groups have all there games in one 'region' its really the latitude that will make the difference not the longitude. LA is going to have a different climate to Vancouver and teams wont have the time to acclimatise themselves.
Florida will host seven games in Miami Gardens. Four in the first round, 1 in Group C and K and 2 in Group H. Alongside a 2nd Round match, Quarter Final and the third place playoff. Who you get to see will be down to the luck of the draw.
I will never forgive what you said to us in Penguin.... You lost a sub today!
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьYou have me belly-laughing. Have £5 👏🏻
ОтветитьIm so glad you got "TWAT" right 🙂
ОтветитьI knew it! I spotted Hollywood actress Minnie Driver briefly appearing in one scene, so I paused the video and asked ChatGPT if I was right. It said no, and that she'd never appeared in The Day Today. Then, at the end, her name appeared in the closing credits.
F*ck AI up its f*cking shit-pipe!
"PETER YOU'VE LOST THE NEWS!"
ОтветитьGood luck to u and yours Bro
ОтветитьLove these sad there is only six but better to make six good episodes than make more bad ones
ОтветитьYeah please do brasseye you will love it
ОтветитьIf it is true that Brits are especially good at mimicking US accents, Id posit two possible reasons. Cultural direction of travel, and evolution of language from a common origin. England being the common origin so its speakers being more able to mimic its descendants accents.
ОтветитьReally wish you all the best for Milton. My thoughts are with you. ❤
ОтветитьThe theme tune is mostly a parody of the Newsnight (a real BBC news show) theme, even mimicking that show's guitar stabs.
ОтветитьThe skit with the IT crowd writer the other guy I think co wrote Father Ted? Mad to think they were both writing Father Ted at the moment! FT was a great sitcom,
ОтветитьThose football commentaries have become classics - 'eat my goal', and 'he must have a foot like a traction engine' are some of the best. BTW 'twat' has two meanings - the one that you know, and also to hit something very hard, which makes it doubly funny
ОтветитьKeep Safe King and Queen Boomer, take care you couple of muppets.
ОтветитьYou should check out The Day Today sketches of the guy who wants to die like Elvis, and Peter O'Hanraha Hanrahan screwing up his report of 9/11!!
ОтветитьItalian TV is still like that today
ОтветитьMinnie Driver was in that episode for about 2 seconds (in the Natus sketch).
ОтветитьYour penguin you speak is a very old dialect 😂
Ответитьstay safe out there guys. Hope you are your family are doing ok regarding the Hurricane
ОтветитьImmigrants to the USA eat American pets.
ОтветитьMay your god be with you all today! 🙏
Ответить* FYI the News Dancer shows up again in one of those separate Day Today "mini episodes" I told you about.
* I notice Sorted (aka Get Stuffed 2.0) ended with a bit of the Ayatollah Dance (a politically incorrect football-fan fad from way back when).
* In this universe you can replicate an island, so why not tow one? Actually there's an answer to that - in the words of Gilbert O'Sullivan "you can con everybody you'll ever meet, but you can't con Crete"
Hey Boomer i hope you and your family are safe from the Hurricane in Florida.
ОтветитьHope you’re doing well with those hurricanes 😮 remember all you fellow Scots out there , that’s hardcore weather!
ОтветитьYou finally missed one Boomer. The guy who plays the skeptic is Ian Gelder who played Kevan Lannister in Game of Thrones.
ОтветитьI would pay good money for an Autobiography of Ted Maul read by Ted himself.
ОтветитьYou should never watch
Two Girls one Pup 😅😅😅
The pronunciation of Arkansas as "Ar-kan-saw" stems from the state’s linguistic and cultural history, particularly the influence of Native American languages, French explorers, and American English. Here’s a breakdown of how this unique pronunciation evolved:
The name "Arkansas" derives from the Quapaw people, a Native American tribe who lived in the region. The Quapaw were called "Akansa" by neighboring tribes, such as the Illinois, whose name for them was eventually transcribed by European explorers.
French explorers and settlers played a significant role in the early history of the region, and they adopted and modified the Illinois name for the Quapaw people. French phonetics influence how certain letters are pronounced—especially the silent "s" at the end of words. In French, the final "s" in "Arkansas" would be silent.
Additionally, French explorers referred to the area as "la rivière des Arkansas" (the Arkansas River), applying their language's pronunciation rules to the name.
As you were lamenting the low episode count of this series, there is some good news - there is also The Day Today Mininews - some extra bits they made that didn't amount to enough to make a full episode. They're probably an extra 10-15 mins worth, all told. Love the one with the trapped US Navy submarine, in particular. Also when they did the DVD release in 2004 they recorded some extra audio bits for the extras, including Chris and Alan Partridge discussing the death of Princess Diana and Peter O'Hanrahanrahan live in New York on 9/11. Glad you're enjoying it so far, The Day Today felt like a quantum leap to me back in 1994. As you say, so much stuff going on in it, it really encourages repeated viewings.
Ответитьhey Brian just looking on the news everywhere and just wondering hey how's it going with you calli Adrian and Milton are you OK
ОтветитьPresuming you've seen Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews in the Alan Partridge Episode To Kill a Mocking Alan?
Anyway. You do have Brass Eye set to go through next, don't you? Then Why Bother! With Chris Morris and Peter Cook (you DEFINITELY need to go through Peter Cook's stuff) and then Jam/Blue Jam.
Has he reacted to Four Lions yet. He might get banned.
Ответить17.15 ...de-encouragize...😆
ОтветитьDo brass eye u muppet it's the day today on steroids
ОтветитьThe reporter repeating what the newsreader just said a few seconds ago, is very very common in real news programmes, just seeing it a lot on the coverage of the florida hurricane
ОтветитьBrasseye is quite similar to the Day Today, but i guess not that similar, because i much prefer The Day Today.
ОтветитьThe Sorted show sketch with Graham Linehan is a spoof of a cooking show called Get Stuffed that used to be on British TV around the time the show was made appealing to young people who were up all night. Everything about it is a piss take even down to the music.
ОтветитьThe Italian is pretty good. One of the studio commentators speaks it with a bit of a Spanish accent. Coogan says something like 'This Bureau is not some kind of spectacle that you'd see along the sea front at Margate!'
Ответитьerm wtf wtf was that pingu noises?
ОтветитьKing Boomer, your dog is awesome. So cute!
ОтветитьWithout looking it up I’d say Arkansas sounds maybe Scandinavian with it’s pronunciation
ОтветитьEvery Day The Day Today
ОтветитьI forgot how funny this show was. I shouldnt watch your reactions with a cracked rib! Alan's TwaaAT killed me. Anyways, hope you're well and that little storm passed😂
ОтветитьArkansas - named by the French, Kansas - named by the English. It's that simple just the difference between how 2 languages pronounce words.
Ответить
