Hello and welcome back! Join me in the garden for another relaxing gardening video and a quiet afternoon of pottering, planting, and enjoying the ephemeral, bittersweet beauty of late summer. I always feel a sense of anticipatory nostalgia as August arrives, it's the knowledge that after a long wait, once the warm weather arrives an English summer is so fleeting and autumn is already waiting in the wings. I love summer so much, I sometimes wish I could press pause and make it last a little longer. Autumn is beautiful too, but there's something melancholy about the descent into darkness that always makes me feel extra sentimental at this time of year.
This week I have been focusing on sowing and planting for autumn so that we have lots to look forward to, and Ed and I have been doing some conservation work on the stream that runs through our allotment site, clearing overgrowth and weeds so that that it flows more freely during heavy storms.
A warm welcome to new viewers who have found my channel through Kerry and Dorie @dogontheplot (thank you again, Kerry, for your sweet words and recommendation, it's so kind of you).
Kerry is a fellow English Midlands gardener and YouTuber and makes lovely videos about her life and adventures on her English allotment, all the fruit, vegetables and flowers she grows in her home garden, and the vegan recipes she makes in her home kitchen. Her videos are really inspiring and enjoyable to watch - definitely a channel to check out if you're interested in gardening, permaculture, seed to fork ideas, fermentation, and sustainability. Her dog Dorie is utterly adorable, and Kerry's videos feel like gardening with a friend.
If you're new to my channel with this video, hi! My name is Stéphanie and I live in a big city in the UK. Here on Eighteen and Cloudy I share peaceful, slow paced, relaxing 'slow living' vlogs and videos about organic gardening, vegan cooking and baking, and sustainable arts and crafts. My husband and I live in a flat and don't have a garden of our own, but we rent a plot of land from the local council - an allotment garden. We take a no till / low dig / minimal soil disturbance approach to gardening, and on our plot we grow food and flowers, with a focus on sustainability and soil /ecosystem health.
If you enjoyed this video, take a look through my archives, and subscribe to keep in touch. I share a new video each week.
