Great video. Since I’ve started playing I’ve only played with a really strong grip. On my best shots I can hit it a mile but that’s only a handful of times a round. The rest hooks, fat shots, thin shots, you name it. Changing to a neutral grip has really forced me to use my body to turn and while I don’t have the power I once did I’m looking forward to getting the consistency out of a neutral grip forcing my body to turn through the ball.
ОтветитьPaul, what happens if I use a weak left hand grip? I have a neutral left hand but I keep pull hooking everything and I'm sick of it.
ОтветитьYour instructions rock, if so many people looked like your swings.
ОтветитьWith a neutral grip and at the top of the backswing, shouldn’t the club face be parallel to the left wrist and not the left forearm. Otherwise to get the club face to be square of parallel to the forearm, you can take a strong grip and cup the left wrist or a weak grip and bow the left wrist, and both can be square to your left forearm.
ОтветитьI have never heard it put like that I have a strong grip I can't wait to go hit some balls also any tips on my ball position i.e. how far should the ball be from my feet how much should I have my chest over the ball for my irons
Ответитьmost thorough grip explanation ever seen online. Appreciated
ОтветитьGreat information, thank you! Try it out on the range today and everytime I hit the ball it goes straight with the driver, irons even the wedges as well👏👍👍
ОтветитьIf ur club is closed to the path. There goes the hook
ОтветитьCan you not overlap with pinky finger and just do a ten finger grip or would it make your right hand too strong?
ОтветитьThanks 😂
ОтветитьI’m a left handed swinger a true right hander in everything else but swinging a club or bat gotta swing left handed so what should I do with my left hand being my right hand is the strongest
ОтветитьWow Paul, I gotta say this has been eye opening. I erroneously thought I had a neutral grip. But it was a 10 finger grip with right hand having a lot of power in it. I just followed along to this step-by-step in my room and just did some gentle swings, and I swear I can tell a difference in my wrists already. It's like they are more oily for lack of a better way of describing it. It's like a-ha! Now I can understand more of what you are talking about when you talk about loose wrists. Can't wait to take it to the range to work on some full shots with it. Thanks!
ОтветитьWhy is it when i have stronger grip pressure on my lead but little to no pressure on my trail hand I strike the golf ball good?
ОтветитьAmazing! Thank you Paul.
ОтветитьI hope this guy isn't teaching kids...
ОтветитьWhat if your left handed golfer and your dominant hand is the right hand which is the top hand. I feel like my grip is way too strong. I do wrap on top, no longer interlock and that has helped but still pull hooking every club. Any tips there?
ОтветитьIncredibly helpful. I was terrified to try this at the range last week since I tend to slice even with a super strong grip. But I figured I would take Paul up on the 30 balls.
I was in disbelief from the very first shot. Never hit the ball this well. Straight and many had the compressed feeling I've been chasing forever. Hooked on your videos now - thanks Paul!
Is your grip similar to Jack's. Palm left and fingers right hand
ОтветитьI have always known that the first and most important part of the golf setup is the grip. I have tried all ways and watched more tips then I can remember. Mr. Wilson...you have explained the neutral grip(at least in my opinion) in the most simple way and so easy to understand and employee. Because I have worked on my frip so hard it was a minor shift in comfort and I was contacting solid straight shots in about 3 to 4 balls. Thano you so much and I will subscribing to your channel.
ОтветитьGreat 1st person camera viewpoint on this video. Nothing is rushed. You show the nuts and bolts. Small things that hold big things together.
ОтветитьPaul: Thanks for teaching us a strong foundation for the game we all love. The game is so much more enjoyable and seems less of a chore.
ОтветитьPaul has helped me so much! I was having a terrible time hooking the ball. This neutral grip has changed my game for the better. It was awkward at first, but after hitting balls at the range, I stopped hooking the ball
ОтветитьPaul, I have gone from a strong grip to your neutral grip and like the results with all clubs except I keep hitting my 3 wood with a weak left/right spin. Any suggestions?
ОтветитьI made the switch to the neutral grip but since I’ve been having pain in my hand specifically between my thumb and pointer finger. Could it be caused by wearing the right hand too much or grip pressure ?
ОтветитьPaul has some the best golf instruction content on YT. Easy to follow and he does not make it overly complicated.😀
ОтветитьI was always taught to grip the club in my fingers on both hands. I have a bad tendency to miss left with a hook. I used trackman two days ago and my face angle was .1-.5. I have a strong grip from baseball. I hope this helps
ОтветитьThe revelation here is that we need to weaken the trial arm. Among the many contradictions of golf instruction is the camp that says power comes from the trail arm. I’m left handed and play right handed. I even bought a set of left handed clubs as I wanted to feel what a strong trail arm is. Now Paul says I have an advantage as my lead arm is definitely the strongest. I know I’ve been playing with a strong grip and while going to the course without trying this on the range isn’t a great idea, I’m going to play with this neutral grip tomorrow and see what happens. I doubt if it’ll be any worse than I play now. Also appreciate the detailed explanation
ОтветитьBest video I've ever seen, because it's from the players perspective. Most videos or even in person instruction we are looking at what we are supposed to do. No surprise that it doesn't work. Now Paul, you've got a ton of videos, and I've watched many. Somehow I missed this one. Question: If you were to pick 3 or 4 videos out of your vast collection, for followup to this one, what would they be, in a logical sequence? Assume I know nothing, as I didn't even get the grip right. If they are from the players eyes, so much the better. thanks.
ОтветитьOn the lead hand, is your thumb pad or base of the thumb resting on top the grip? Or is the base of the palm basically the pad beneath the pinky?
ОтветитьDear Paul Thanks for the tip. Please share the video for putting grip and grip pressure.
Ответитьi thought your suppose to have the grip in the fingers on your left hand not the palm.
ОтветитьI take it this grip is used regardless of club type, I.E Driver-sw?
ОтветитьThis is the most detailed grip video ever 😮
ОтветитьPaul, all the advice is brilliant but the bit on interlock and not sacrificing position for comfort... Mind blown. Literally my fault to a tee. Overlap felt awful at first (as it was different) but now... wow.
Ответитьthis is so confusing for me. All the golf lessons I have had say put the club in the fiongers of the left hand, not the palm. I used to have it in the palm and was told I wouldn't be able to hinge my wrists with that grip..
ОтветитьIt’s a key thank you Paul
ОтветитьThank you so much for doing this from the players POV. Truly, thank you.
Ответить@paulwilsongolf, I hate this so much. I'm a super strong grip guy and holy hell...this is the absolute worst thing I've ever felt in my grip. But...after about 50 balls in my sim...sigh...I'm sold and I have a lot of work to do on my grip. I need to get some lessons with you.
ОтветитьIs the palm of the hand resting on the top of the club or is it slightly off the grip with the club resting between the pad on the side of the hand and the fingers (so is there a pocket behind the top of the v in your example).
ОтветитьLeft hand
ОтветитьI have been trying to loosen the wrists more but noticed I started to hook the ball, which I usually don't do. After watching this I realized I am playing with a strong grip. I'll hit the range and try this new grip and report back! Thanks Paul.
ОтветитьThis grip change is a game changer. Absolutely great!
ОтветитьThis is Ben Hogan’s grip. Not what they teach nowadays putting the shaft more to the fingers
ОтветитьThis is def different to me. I didn't have a strong grip with my left hand(i could see my 2 knuckles on left hand), but my right hand was more on the side of the grip and a gap between my thumb and hand. As well, I am used to interlocking my fingers. So learning the reposition of my right hand and pinky not interlocked is taking some getting used to for sure.
ОтветитьWhy can’t I feel comfortable with this grip
I do interlock due to crooked fingers caused by arthritis
Paul the left thumb appears to be at 1 o'clock?
ОтветитьPaul! When i feel the club releasing, my right hand seems to come off the club! Whats going on? Is this why pros sometimes have a follow through where their right hand lets go of the club?
Ответить
