Incredibly, we now live in an era where this is no longer considered the worst era from Spider-Man.
ОтветитьAt least the original clone saga is way better than Zebb Wells's run on Spider Man can we agree on that ladies and gentlemen.
ОтветитьUnlike clone saga, no way home features variants of spider man/ peter Parker. Wished they make clone saga in MCU? If Tom Holland is the original MCU Peter Parker or Tobey maguire the original Peter parker, who is going to play Ben Reilly
ОтветитьIf they stick with original plan would be swell.
We read the now old peter parker become mentor to Ben.
Great video. I did not read the clone saga... and feel fortunate about that. Norman should have stayed dead. Such a idiotic blunder to bring bad long dead characters.
ОтветитьAm I the only one who wants a Clone Saga in the MCU at some point?
ОтветитьThis was the storyline that made me quit buying new comics forever- but the return of Norman Osborn in particular. The ultimate slap in the face. Marvel seemed desperate to re-boot the Marvel U at the time so as far as I'm concerned it started an alternate universe
ОтветитьLore of The SPIDER-MAN Clone Saga - What Went Wrong? Momentum 100
ОтветитьIn short:
The Clone Saga is responsible for the complete depression that is the current Spider-Man today.
They planned on giving Spider-Man a happy ending and ever since deciding not to do that he's been the most miserable fictional character in history....
Imagine if they’d thought of Miles Morales back then instead.
Ответитьhonestly, i read the clone saga borrowing them from the library as a kid in the late 2000s and early 2010s, and i uhhhhh... i like it. a lot. its a convoluted mess but ben reilly will have a special place in my heart forever (sucks what they did with him later dead and revived 27 times or whatever). also i enjoy the kaine scarlet spider stories too, especially his presence as the other in yet another controversial run, spiderverse. idk ben has always been my favorite spider-man tho, especially during the scarlet spider days with that awesome hoodie suit
ОтветитьBeen could’ve Stayed Scarlet Spider, Peter & MJ could’ve had a child. Simple. Ben is a Clone, Peter is Og
ОтветитьMakes you wonder if marvel comics were ever good tbh
ОтветитьWhat a vid amazinggg
ОтветитьThe Clone Saga went wrong when they decided Ben Reilly survived being dumped in a smokestack.
ОтветитьStuff like this deters me from comic books. Too many clones, universes, reboots. How does one know what is the definitive canon?
ОтветитьI actually like the clone saga I mean it was different you know
ОтветитьThe Clone Saga: Im the worst Spider-man story!
One More Day: Hold my beer.
One more day was pretty bad too lol
Ответитьthats the reason why shonen rules, there is no fucking clones, no counterfeit characters, no paralel universes whateve.r people are what you know since beginning and you attach to the characters.
there is no other spider man than Peter Parker, if you put somebody else the fans always be frustrated and will not like it
speaking of the original clone saga, Gwen Stacy very much was the heart of it, even more so than Peter. I was tickled to see her years later in (i think) a spectacular spider man annual as part of the evolutionary war event...and THAT story shat all over the jackal warren clone notion, claiming he never managed to clone anyone. Obviously, this would be ignored. OK, checked, and it was 1988's SSM annual 8. "Funny" how 90's guys lost all care about continuity, eh? I didn't really love the retcon of SSM 8, but the mind 90's clones...well...and bringing Norman back was absurd. decades later "turns out I'm Wolverine" was even worse, I mean, you just did years of clones....surely Norman woulda shoulda been another clone? UGH.
Ответитьi was a lifelong spidey fan, collecting all...but I'd dropped to a casual buyer by about mid 1994 onward, buying ever less of the wall crawler. Not a good time for the character/comics. I'm an oldie, though, and I liked the 1973 first jackal/clone saga, although i came to it (1970's ASM) mostly via marvel tales & a few old back issues. 1981's Marvel Tales 126 = Amazing S-M 149; and that was a sweet spot on my youthful comic book reading.
ОтветитьIt was a mess. I used to have all the clone saga Comic Book story line. Now I see it with '90s nostalgia. 🕸🕷.
Ответить"MJ and peter split up after aunt may dies, mephisto is involved and osbourne's back" damn the original sounds so... familiar
ОтветитьThe comic version of spider verse was way way worse, never forget how disrespectful it was to any unique spiderman and never forget the death of Cosmic Spider Man and how easily he could have won after seeing the ending issue.
ОтветитьI grew up reading the clone saga and Ben Reilly was my favorite character. I’ll miss him…
ОтветитьOther than the original '75 story arc and the early '80s What If? all of the Clone Saga happened after my time. But, I kinda like the idea with a tweek. Since I got out of comics mid 80s (shortly after Secret Wars) I'd have loved it if it could have been with more of what I grew up with having been the original and with the stories after that having been the clone. Barring that, I would've liked the differences between experiences and memories explored in a different way. I like the idea of there being a Spider-Man/Parker/whatever-name-he-goes-by being out there who has a different take on heroes, villains, etc based on the Silver Age/early Bronze Age view. And seeing the differences between the two views. Maybe even having him go back to his more nerdy style, since he wasn't that far removed from it yet in '75. So much potential in the clone idea, but too much muddy waters to go back to it or anything too similar anytime soon. They had a shot at it with the Secret Invasion issue where a shuttleful of 70s-era versions of heroes was discovered. Another moment of getting my hopes up.
ОтветитьPros:
- Scarlett Spider is pretty sick
- ????
Cons:
- Literally everything, why is this so long?
Peter Parker: experiences a major life event.
Comic Book editors: We can’t have that.
See Clone Saga, One More Day, and Sins Past. They just don’t learn their lesson. Ever.
The clone saga could've been one of the greatest Spider-man stories of all time if there was just a consistent sense of direction.
ОтветитьI actually STOPPED reading Spider-Man comics at the beginning of all of this, only to return during J. Michael Straczynski’s run.
ОтветитьPeople look down at this but I loved the story of Ben Riley. If you think about it he went from thinking he was a clone, no life, no hope, nothing and decides to make a life for himself when he thought he was nothing. Then all of a sudden he is told you are the real Peter and all of a sudden he has a new lease of life BUT he choses to still be him. As someone at that time who had alot of Confidence issues and thought I was nothing as well as a waste of space when I was 10, just seeing Ben Riley here gave me hope that I could be like him and build myself back up from nothing and for that he will always be My Spider Man/Scarlet Spider plus both Ben Riley Scarlet Spider and Spider Man desgins were always my fav
Ответить“Let’s have Peter and MJ make a baby and give Ben the mantle of Spider-Man. Fans will like this send off of the character.”
“Cool! So what you’re saying is that we have MJ miscarry and break up with Peter, have Ben disintegrate, and have Norman Osborn come back from the dead in the most predictably ham fisted way possible?”
“…what the f*ck is wrong with you?”
So, basically it's the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy of Spider-man comics.
Ответить🕷️
Ответить"Bring back to basics" for the love of god, can comic books stop doing this shit!? There is nothing wrong with evolving and growing characters!
ОтветитьI like Ben Reilly and feel I in better hands, his story could have been told much better. What we got was a mess and it’s too bad. I blame the higher ups for this one.
ОтветитьIf they introduce Miles Warren in the next Spider-Man film. Fans will lose their minds...
Ответитьinstead of the villain universe that sony is doing. it should be the clone saga, a 2parter. the clone can be either holland or garfield.
ОтветитьI might be one of the only people that actually like majority of the clone saga
ОтветитьThis monstrosity of a story is how Lewis Lovhaug (aka Linkara) pays his bills every October
ОтветитьI'm not so much a fan of the Clone Saga a I am of Tom De Falco's spin-off from it, which started with a What If: What if Peter and MJ's baby had lived?
I'd love to see a video about the story of how Spider-Girl came to be, and how she managed to keep on going for roughly a decade despite numerous attempts to cancel and/or replace her.
there was also a redo of this called "the real clone saga" it handles the story much better and the art is amazing
