Thank you to everyone who reached out to check on me. I needed to step away from social media to focus on my mental health, and I’m in a much better place now. It truly warms my heart to know that so many people, even strangers, care. Love you all❤
ОтветитьI could be wrong but according to my Latin grammar shouldn't it be Stoikism and not Stoisism. I am sorry about being a critic but I need proper diction. I want to love and not to find failures. I look for wellness of thinking.
ОтветитьThanks!
Ответитьstoicisim = robo-depersonalizated saddness
ОтветитьOjemine....
ОтветитьBut how do i know if something is in my control? I guess the threshold is defined by myself. Like I could work 12 hours a day and that’s the best I can do but my health would deteriorate and I can’t do it long term so maybe that means im doing too much?
ОтветитьDon’t Sell Yourself Cheaply
Ответить1. Many people learning stoicism don’t realize that stoicism is mostly involves journaling
2. Role of philosophy is greatly undermined in spreading knowledge
I wonder no one observed even after 5 years in 2024, that he looked like Walter White in Breaking Bad.
ОтветитьVery well done, and the info is life changing; thank you. Roger of Orlando
ОтветитьBravo! Well done! Greatfull!
Ответить"You don't attach your self-esteem to the outcome. You only attach it to what's under your control, your attempt.”
ОтветитьVery good talk I find stoicism very interesting - it’s a good way to live life.
Have a good day fellow human beings! ❤
It's generally a good philosophy but I don't think it has potential to undo damage or trauma either there are things outside of our control that can impact your life terribly and are unavoidable then all you can do is cope with that if justice for example one of the four virtues is not your responsibility not much you can do when you are a victim of injustice society has to rely on cops and courts that often just add insult to injuries too.
ОтветитьThe daughter example was perfect
ОтветитьDude came and gave an excellent talk like it's nothing
ОтветитьChaos theory is so much more fun.
ОтветитьGreat talk! Love the idea of the masks. In mindfulness practice, it can sometimes feel as though we're supposed to be neutral at all times but this idea allows us to assume the roles of characters where we are just trying to be the best we can be. Allows for more flexibility. Love it!
ОтветитьSee David Fideler for an explanation of Stoicism and Seneca.
ОтветитьI would have been the only one laughing

ОтветитьThe question of whether we are in control, or whether someone else or some process is in control is often up in the air. We often don't know the extent to which what we do makes a difference. The only way to find out is to do things ourselves. The example: getting a promotion could be up to you in the sense that it could hinge on what you do, it could also have nothing to do with what you do. But most of the time we don't know beforehand. This seems to me to contrast with Stoicism.
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьSt Paul was the arguably the founder of Christianity.
Ever heard of Jesus Christ?
Good one😅
ОтветитьZeno of Citium had a Greco-Phoenician background. He was not only Phoenician.
ОтветитьGREAT presentation, & topic. Q - Have there been any TED talks re: the AXIAL age, & history's 900 years of GRECO-Buddhism? Stoicism figures prominently.
ОтветитьI read this man's books while in prison, and they helped tremendously with my stay there.
And there is no better place I can think of to practice stoicism than in prison.
Ordinary life as in Michael Jackson ordinary ? Or Charles Manson ordinary or I made it to a Ted talk ordinary ? I believe stoicism properly applied makes a person humble during an amazing life 😊
ОтветитьThanks!!
Ответитьi don't feel the people in the crowd are appreciating this at all. they should but look bored, not a noise.
ОтветитьI am a Fijians man born or Aotearoa and as a 32yr old man I think about what my forbears think of me before I act
ОтветитьYa, Those are Best Stoicism as a philosophy To be Habituated.
ОтветитьSpider-man didn’t say that; it was his Uncle Ben. C’mon now, just because he’s Spider-man that doesn’t mean he didn’t have regular ordinary human beings as mentors and teachers. Just saying 💪💖
ОтветитьAm I the only one who notices similarities with Buddhism??
ОтветитьThe audience has no sense of humor
