ОтветитьI grew up poor so beans and rice are my go to and with my dad being a survivorlist and being from the coast guard I have learned a lot from him on how to prep. All though I live in Colorado and the worst we get in my area is mild flooding and forest fires I am prepared for all shorts of disasters I vacuum seal most my food storage and cann as much as I can. Also ive trained myself to try different things to eat if we went off grid
ОтветитьHEY SUNSHINE! How did the hurricane go for your area? Doing well?
ОтветитьWell played darlin. Another thing I try to do is hit the Dollar General on Saturday. If you buy there during the week they have coupons on your receipt for $5 off a $25 purchase. Just another option to think on.
ОтветитьLove your videos. I look forward to them like I do pay day and bacon. Seriously, your tips and insight is really really great. I've been doing this for roughly 16 years and I've learned a couple things from you. So thanks for that.
Plus, according to your shirt in this video, you have good taste in music too.
Fantastic video..People need to start somewhere and that's a great way to start.
ОтветитьGreat video. It's so sad that over one million people are without power in Louisiana and so many houses under water. Praying that there were some peppers there who evacuated with their emergency supplies.
ОтветитьHi my friend great food haul God bless you and your family be safe and be strong in the lord I have to get some rice blessings 👍🏼❤️🙏🏼
Ответить🤍
ОтветитьYes don't buy all at once the expired comes due and you will then need to donate before that expires. So if you do that kind of buying get comfortable to budget it as a loss but it's a personal pride to donate, or donate to your church. Buy the amt you would eat a week just double the cans keep one set in prep and use the other during that week. But only choose foods you eat, or will be eating seasonally. Eg. Winter meals, holidays. Try out products every month then donate the items that you didn't like so u know your prep area is usable food. As for calories my wife has 950 to 1100 calories a day. Large percent of calories are your drinks. Remember coffees, creamers, pops, diet drinks unless dry don't last more that 9- 16 months. We jar up rice 5 kinds. rice does Tastes different find your comfort. And we don't usa shelves so we can immediately pull food to trucks. Think of this if you are in flood zones.
ОтветитьAmen Sister. Cut through the BS and tell it like it is. Be safe. 👍🌌🐿
ОтветитьGreat stuff!
Put up in Mylar nonfat powdered milk 20qts worth, 2lbs of both white and black beans this morning.
Love dollar tree
Heres a question to you, Sunshine, and all the readers.....
What security do you have in place for WHEN they come at night? They will come in the cover of darkness...when everybody is fast asleep. So, we have to have a system or systems in place for when they do. Because we have to sleep and dont know when they will arrive...but they are going to. Stay alert, stay safe...God bless you all!
I enjoy your videos very much. I like your straightforward, matter of fact style. Take care, and thank you
ОтветитьSome of the Saxon has msg. Be careful if it affects you.
ОтветитьHey Sunshine, why not have a live event to answer questions and raise funds? Create a membership feature for your friends with perks like exclusive content! Just a thought :)
ОтветитьI l💗ve beans & rice!
ОтветитьJust praying you’re doing g okay with these storms! Y’all are in my prayers! God keep you safe in His arms!!
ОтветитьYup your right it easy to do. 👍
ОтветитьThis is so important. And you make it so easy for newbies to get started. This could also apply to the people that say they can’t afford to eat healthy, they can only afford to eat at McDonald’s etc.
ОтветитьI hope you’re safe! We just ordered a small solar generator and solar panel for power outtages etc. not in a hurricane area, but we get wind storms, snow etc causing power outtages.
ОтветитьSkip one trip to Starbucks a week & it pays for your Dollar Tree visit. 🤣
ОтветитьNew to the channel. The pasta at DT is an example of shrinkflation. That pasta used to be 24 oz for a dollar. Good video.
ОтветитьThe yellow rice from Dollar Tree is so good and is pre-seasoned. I'm prepping with winter in mind.
ОтветитьI was able to buy 50 pounds of oatmeal earlier this spring for $28 in bulk from our local Amish store along with a few other things. That means that I paid only 58 cents per pound and that's not a sale price, but the regular price. I squeeze my preps out of my regular food budget and save a lot by purchasing in bulk.
ОтветитьThese type preps will not work for those that have diabetics in their family. They have to watch the amount of carbs they intake.
There is a limit on rice, oatmeal and pasta they can eat in any given day. Canned pasta sauce has a lot of cabs and sugar. The beans are great for diabetics.
Hint, instead of buying powdered bouillon that doesn't have a long term shelf life buy bouillon cubes.
They have an infinite shelf life. I store, Knorr beef, chicken and ham favored bouillon cubes. The ham is more costly and sometimes hard to find, but it is great in beans and to favor other dishes.
You did good on showing a new prepper what they can get to start their long term and daily use food stock.
I buy 40 lb bags of rice
ОтветитьWe've always made sure to have at least a months worth of food in the house in case of emergency, but in the last month or so my husband and I have had a strong urge to get more food prep in the house. I have visited my local Dollar Tree twice recently to get some food prep items, including lots of beans and rice. I even had to buy some canned veggies there due to my local grocery store having very little in stock.
ОтветитьThis was an excellent presentation of how anyone is able to prepare for tough times a little at a time. My budget has limitations so I purchase long shelf life items I would eat normally. If SHTF or natural disasters do not happen those items will still be used and probably at lower price. I like your style, content and delivery and you seem so genuine.
ОтветитьHow do you make the spaghetti if there is no water ?
ОтветитьGreat way of looking at prepping! My budget for this week’s prepping was $16 but I also used a CVS coupon that I get one/ month. I bought canned meat on sale and spaghetti sauce. On sale. I left with a full bag. If I can do it on my part time salary you can too.
ОтветитьAwesome prep video, thanks!
ОтветитьI do love the sazon. It can be used in lots of ways. It doesn't take much to prep. A little money can go a long ways. Especially when you look back after a few month and see how much you've accomplished. Great video.
ОтветитьI am new to this but I think I know how to do the rice and beans to store them but I have problems with how much oxygen absorbers to put in things how do I go about doing that and what needs oxygen
ОтветитьIs it better to buy spaghetti sauce in jars or they work for long term storage I want to get my long-term storage ready
ОтветитьHow to you cook/eat the lentils, how do they taste?
Anyone describe what that particular seasoning taste like?
The beans will need to be cooked . Or sealed in airtight bags. I learned the hard way. Soaked some beans over night, cooked the next day, they would not, get tender. Pressure cook and sealed in jars. Also, get some powdered milk and put in to air tight bags. Add water, when ready to use, for Mac n cheese ect.
ОтветитьDented cans?
ОтветитьGreat video.
Suggestion:. FREEZE Pasta and Rice for a couple days. Both have bug eggs and WILL develop an infestation at some point.
I froze 2ea 5-lb boxes of individually bagged 1lb spaghetti last year (11-mos).
I did NOT freeze a 3rd box and placed all three in the pantry. The 2ea frozen ones are find. The 3rd unfrozen one is now filled with small black bugs .
Cheers
Thank you for this. I just began prepping this week and am completely overwhelmed. I have muscular dystrophy and am in a wheelchair and my brother is paranoid schizophrenic, so I'm trying to prep for both of us. We both live on disability income so I don't have much to spend. On Monday, I tried to order some supplies from Walmart pick up but couldn't decide out what we truly need so I ended up with very few items.

Ответить16 years ago I was in the philippines with my loving wife
ОтветитьThank you for the video.
Ответить1200 calories is bare survival.
Ответитьoil? salt? pepper? potato? flour? butter? eggs?
ОтветитьThis is a great video. I wish I had something like this when I first got started. I know so many people that say they can't afford to be prepared and breaking it down like this shows how easy and affordable it really is. And I have never thought to buy meat sauce in a can, so I learned something new. Thanks.
ОтветитьKeep at it !!! You are doing great!!!!
ОтветитьI added 6 gallons of water, 3 gallons of vinegar and 2 bags of banana chips this week. Slow and steady wins the race!
