Don’t make the same mistake I did and read Dracula for the first book I read in 4 years
ОтветитьWhy does nobody recommend little women.. it’s one of the easiest classics I’ve ever read
Ответить0/10 🤡
ОтветитьSlightly disappointed you didn't mention "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe. Will I watch your videos again? Ne...Yeah, probably.
My advice to people when it comes to reading is...just that...read. The so-called classics are often mind-numbingly boring, longwinded and old-fashioned.
Give them a go by all means, but reading them isn't really an achievement. Reading Bridget Jones' Diary or 50 Shades of Grey (I just threw up in my mouth a little) is every bit as much of an achievement. They are just books. In their time they weren't considered classics, they were called contemporary novels.
Don't set them up to be some form of higher literature, look up the language in them in a dictionary if you have difficulty, and read them if you want. It won't do you any harm as a reader if you don't.
I hereby conclude my essay.
Read whispers of night, laiqa story, I granted you love it.
ОтветитьYou are so magical! I am now hooked on reading the classics!
ОтветитьI tend to feel bored of starting stories I already know the plot to. I enjoy the unknown of books. But I think it will be hard for me to enjoy classics because it makes me feel like I'm doing homework when I attempt to read them.
ОтветитьThe doll B.Prus
ОтветитьI love ones from childood: Robin Hood, Tom Sawyer, Conneticuit Yankee in King Arthurs Court, Sherlock Holmes - all very accessible because we already know the stories to a degree. Also, if you like pure scandal and trash reality TV: Moll Flanders.

ОтветитьThe sun tucks behinds the changing clouds, how very elegant. Your a gem and I appreciate your selections.
Ответитьalmost all book tubers have bare walls. Now here is a person with taste! Love your art on the wall.
Ответитьi am already in love with you
ОтветитьShe managed to convince me to read every one of them 😂
Ответитьparfume, the perks of being a wallflower, frankenstein... I think I would recommend those 3
Oh an Dshamilja by Tschingis Aitmatow... but I feel like no one has ever heard of it 😂
The opening sentence of "House of Usher" was just pure mastery.
ОтветитьOk , I love you too❤
ОтветитьI would add The Wind in The Willows.
It’s one of the very few books that I would call perfect. It’s also extremely accessible, beautifully written. Possibly my favourite ever book. A true classic.
Boioioioing
ОтветитьCan i start writing in my 40s ?
ОтветитьRomeo & Juliet has been beloved by middle school girls for several generations. Also Shakespeare is meant to be seen on stage.
Frankenstein is actually not that easy a read. Good book tho.
Вы очень красивая, у меня тоже любимая отечественная литература(русская)😊
ОтветитьPov: im russian and looking for comments about russian literature
ОтветитьAnimal farm - George Orwell.
Ответитьthis is for me:
this video is saved for you so after you finish our exams you can actually fucking read what you want to read
I can recommend "Hadji Murad" by Leo Tolstoy to that list.
ОтветитьNo but Frankenstein IS the monster tho
ОтветитьIf you have trouble getting into reading a physical book, try it in audiobook form. With the right reader, they’re a pleasure to listen to.
ОтветитьEast of Eden John Steinbeck
ОтветитьI would recommend Animal Farm.
ОтветитьHey, I liked and subscribed. 👍🏼
ОтветитьI only just discovered your channel and it really calmed me down, I felt oddly cared for when you smiled and decided to read us a poem :)
Also, big recommendation: The Master and Margarita by Bulgakov. Its plot can be condensed into this single sentence: The devil is bored and comes to Moscow with his man-sized drunken cat to spread some chaos. It was censored at the time so there's probably some sharp satire of Stalin's regime in it as well, but you can easily read it as an adventure novel with some ludicrous protagonists. I am enamoured <3
A trans woman! Nice to see transphobia on the decline in US. Happy pride month.
ОтветитьI love persuasion by Jane Austen, and Northanger Abbey, they’re much easier to get through than her longer books and much easier for beginners but War and Peace if you can get through it, I know the size puts so many people off and it does have a ridiculous amount of characters to try and remember but if you can power through, honestly it’s a masterpiece! ❤❤❤
ОтветитьNot a beginner but still watched this lmao. My recommendation for once you get past the beginner stage is Anna karenina. It’s quite a long read but has such a beautiful story and feels like a modern romance in many ways. ALSO totally agree about Russian literature it’s my fav.
ОтветитьDon't forget Jules Verne. The language is so lively, and he imaginatively explores that which may have been the conspiracy theories of his time, many of which are still talked about to this day (Atlantis, Sea Monsters, Hollow Earth theories, and the implications of time travel).
ОтветитьThanks for the recommendations
ОтветитьI would include the Bible and ancient Greek and Latin texts from Ovid etc because this is what the classical authors have been inspired by
ОтветитьA list of Classics for teenagers
(I read every one of these when I was 12 and still are reading some at 13)
1984 - Contains a lot of symbolism about the modern world. Written by George Orwell. Sexual content is abundant, but not graphic.
Animal Farm - Symbolism for Communism and Capitalism. Quick read and easy to understand. Stands out on its own as a story and very child friendly. Also by George Orwell.
The Outsiders - A sad story about class and assumptions about someone. Contains themes of grief. Written by S.E. Hinton.
Fahrenheit 451 - Talks about censorship and the evolution of entertainment from something that makes you think to just something that stimulates the mind with no intent.
The Time Machine - Talks about Capitalism. Very fever dream-like. Written by H.G. Wells.
Haven’t watched but I am a book nerd and up until recently I didn’t really read then I got rlly into reading (thank you Percy Jackson) and I wanted to read the Iliad as of now I am 17 pages in and am pretty confused
