The Legend of Capt Pickard grows mighty!! Glad to see him get a start again. Last year he got very few starts and I think that was a big mistake from Knob, given how well he played. I hope he gets at least 25 starts, and he should be allowed to compete for the #1 spot with Skinner. "Whos my guy" is whoever is playing well period. Oilers are soft. So it's a good that Perry dropped the gloves again, because they did help wake those oh so skilled Oilers up. Ekholm with an old school shot fake to make a perfect pass for the tap in. Nice!

Can you two discuss Podkolzin's place on the 2nd line with Draisaitl and Arvidsson, why he's there, and how he's doing? It seems a surprising line to me.

Draisatl 10 points, MacDavid 10 points and the team only has 21 goals.

They complained about secondary scoring in the past but there is literally none right now. Averaging 2.33 goals per game through 9 games here.

In the old days (pre-OT) a tie at the end of regulation (e.g., 4-4-1) was considered 0.500.

Nice to see COH give Pickard some proper kudos, and great to hear an honest assessment of Nurse's play for 90% of his entire career. Nothing new, that is his game 3 out of every 4 games. And yet so many angrily tell me he's a top 10 D man in the NHL. He has his merits, and he adds some timely offense now and again, but as a D man?? It's just ridiculous how inconstant he always has been. Wow, I wanted him to be traded before he got that Ludacris deal till 2030. Hollands worst move by far.

I agree. Too much is being asked of Nurse, due to his salary. He can not be what we want him to be. His confidence is easily shattered. He is fragile psychologically. He has been De-Evolving for three seasons in my opinion. I believe he has it in him to work his way out of it. I would be thrilled to see that happen.

I'm not a big Perry fan at this point... but because of the players management have let go, who is going to replace a guy like Perry who sees a problem and is willing to find a way to address it. No one, no one on this team at this point (excluding 25 of course).
Getting rid of Perry makes this softer version of last year even more softer...

I think caguilla would bring a lot of energy also…our youth are missing and I think that’s why we are so sluggish at times!…I would like to see Noah Philp up here also!

nice to celebrate Leon- but reality is his 1st goal was luck (shot in by Detroit player) & 2nd was a great set-up play by Ekholm. Unfortunately Leon was very lazy or not thinking on Detroit 1st goal.. and unfortunately someone in EDM (media or coach) does need to tell him that he can't coast in behind the EDM net when both Kulak & Nurse have already done this. Leon was in the net front and has to stay there until a D can free him up. He is 29 now and needs to be told the truth. He let that goal in

No mention of RNH in the podcast tonight. To my eyes he had a fairly quiet seventeen plus minutes. No hits, no blocks,
no giveaways and no takeaways. He did have two shots on net. I noticed that Nuge was not wearing a letter tonight.

I probably missed it, but what is Bruce's preferred alternative to the Bettman point? The IIHF system makes the most sense.
Another alternative is 2 pts for any kind of win (reg, OT, SO) and 0 pts for any kind of loss. It would be higher pressure, and maybe lead to more injuries. Also, compared to the IIHF system, it would not be as fair to the teams that get it done in regulation time.
