Thorntown, Indiana-based Dickerson Custom Trucks may not be the oldest player in the custom truck game, but as evidenced by the build in this video, they might be the most innovative. The shop's work in recent years got them an invitation to the 2024 Mid-America Trucking Show's "Big Rig Build-Off," an invitation-only competition as part of the PKY Truck Beauty Championship: https://www.overdriveonline.com/custom-rigs/article/15667091/pky-truck-beauty-championship-winners-crowned-at-mats

In this video, DCT owner Dustin Dickerson walks us through the total transformation of what was, at one time, a 1996 Peterbilt 379 he hauled some corn with. With a Cat 3412 motor out of a D11 bulldozer, a 389 hood to help fit that bigger motor, the reskinning of the entire body, a 4K screen as a dash with a custom computer system that gives all the information traditional gauges would offer, the truck is a far cry from what rolled off the assembly line nearly 30 years ago.
