Pax Dei's update is a lot of incremental refinement alongside some great combat updates! Not massive progression yet but still great improvements.

Hey Mr. Redbeardflynn, I'm a hardcore Everquest raider from 2000 - 2010 I used to even pay $29 a month to raid on the legends server and miss the good ole days.. Anyway I just wanted to ask you if you were aware of the Everquest progression server they have running? It''s currently in Scars of Velious and is populated with daily raiding guilds. I just wanted to know if you were aware of it or not I haven't seen you mention anything about it in any of your videos?

There's another Isometric sandbox MMO that just came out called Gnome Online.. It's actually been around for a while and was shut down but came back completely revamped.. It's a 1 man project.. All the Isometric MMO's is actually refreshing to see. Another mention is Haven & Earth which comes out tomorrow..

Monster Hunter Wilds has a playtest wright now for 3 or 4 days on steam.

I really want to like AoC, but the fact that they charged like 120-300 USD to test their game and combinations of it being developed for 8 years and having 1 incomplete Biom from what they promised made me lose all hope...

Got into throne and liberty. AGS is playing with and talking to the community. Since global they keep fixing things that went wrong in the korea version.

AoC is a horrible experience atm. They downgraded the graphics....npcs and characters look older then the landscape with textures. I feel like i got scammed because they have been showing us better videos with better graphics. The servers are the worst i have seen in an alpha

I really can't wait for Monsters and Memories. I played some of the testing a few months ago and really enjoyed it. I was also happy that it worked perfectly on Linux. I might give Pantheon a go as well as long as it works on Linux. I been playing MMOs since '99 and was hardcore into EverQuest. But things changed with me, major anxiety, PTSD, along with my autism, I could only solo since then. I want to change that so bad. I did group in Embers Adrift a few months ago and had fun, but then I quit playing. Anxiety gets to me. Here is hoping something can snap me out of it and get me to play the types of MMOs I enjoy the most, and not solo ones like WoW and ESO. I prefer the old school, group-oriented, style.

I wonder if pantheon still focuses around a monthly sub, or if they are going away from it. It's the only thing holding me back, getting a pack

Oh God, you can delevel in Pantheon? I like the idea of semi hardcore mechanics.. like corpse runs, debt, and the fact that you can't necessarily solo everything, but deleveling is one of those annoying, pointless mechanics that just makes things frustrating for no reason. I remember people talking about deleveling midraid when I was playing eq2 back in the day with them, and you just have to end the entire raid for the day because you lose so much from that, wasting everyones time... Not only that, but i feel it would encourage me to leave groups a lot faster; I'm not gonna risk deleveling because I died 12 times because people don't know how to play their characters.

Evercraft really makes the people who say "gameplay over graphics" put their money where their mouth is lol.

Seriously, look past the graphics and give the game a try. I have never played an alpha game that has run this smooth before (unless you turn on the weather then it was more like a slide show 😂)

Ashes of Creation is the last MMORPG I crowdfunded back in 2017! I am Settler & am patiently waiting for Beta testing! I now wait until full release of a game because we as gamers have been burned to many times!

All about Ashes of Creation for me! I've been testing since Alpha 1 and I love it. Yes, lots of bugs and systems to fix/perfect. Thank you Red for covering AOC and the others.

Brighter Shores is literally using Runescapes model.

Been back playing CoH on the Homecoming server. Such a refreshing change of pace. Just further proves you don’t need UE5 to have great MMO. You also don’t have an MMO built around micro transactions and 90$ mounts. Great community.

The brighter shores premium pass was said to be a buy once and you own that content forever. Then when more zones and areas come out, a premium pass for those will be release and you can buy the pass to have access to them zones aswell. Basically the premium pass is a expansion pack, buy once and wait for the next one to come out then buy that one. And so on lol.

Love the list. I'm definitely in the old-school group when it comes to what I enjoy, but I will probably try out Ashes at some point as well. Most excited about Pantheon, but Evercraft and Monsters & Memories also look pretty nice. ATM I've been trying to like "Throne and Lavatory", but it does seem to be packed full of those systems you're talking about, unnecessarily complicated and designed so you spend real money to upgrade your character. Im currently obsessed with "No Rest for the Wicked", which is doing a big update soon and possibly introducing multiplayer... not an MMO though.

I got Fractured Online a two or three years ago. So its been a while since I played it. By far its was one of the worse games I ever played. Maybe it changed since then. IDK

You should check out Palia. It’s housing and random skills. No fighting just hunting. There is cooking, fishing, among other things.

Think MMO's are screwed tbh.
Gone are the days of community thanks to the "I can't join a guild, I'm allergic to people!" (sarcasm) LFG/LFR crowd.
Add to that there is zero feeling of goals thanks to the "I want it now" crowd (The level grind in DAoC was real!).
Then lastly, add the fact they (MMO's) all either look dated...wow, cartoony...wow, freaky...FFXIV, or generally low or bad graphics...Only ESO tried to look a bit lifelike, shame it's combat sucked badly. Even the Ashes characters look deformed.
A Unreal engine 5 MMO would be sweet, but we all know the characters would have massive eyes and/or fur.
Fantasy means looking like a turd it would seem. A lifelike LotRo would be amazing... one can only dream!

Stop giving games money that are not complete.

To have oldschool hard-to-level MMOs going into EA is pure bullshit. Who's gonna GRIND and burn out on the game before release? It's so dumb.

I wish devs would drop this idea that people want to be able to do anything and everything on one character. Making a class and having a role to fill is what breathes life in these games for me. Being a healer, a mage, a warrior, tank whatever is what MMOs are all about for me. That and starting out with all your power. Throne and liberty I’m looking at you. Building up your character is part of why leveling up and continuing to play the game is all about.

I was interested in Pax Dei up until I saw that buying early access meant nothing for actual release.

Pantheon is just eq 3 or the “real” EverQuest 2 isn’t it, it’s Brad McQuaid, you can lose levels , quest xp is meaningless and while I don’t know if it has the pulling and cc mechanics it’s has the monk and enchanter classes.

When you say Corepunk is a MMO which plays as a MOBA: it means "Corepunk is a Multi Massive Online" (game) "which plays as a Multi Online Battle Arena" (LoL, HoN, Dota 2, HotS). Don't you mean "Corepunk is a ARPG focusing on survival aspect due to basic health regen is gone, including a focus on both PvP and PvE"? Or is Corepunk really played as a MOBA - are you put in an arena when you leave town?

Fractured Online is already the typical sexist trash game where they gender locked the Hellfire Demons to the shit males instead some big muscles female demons! Not going to support that garbage

So many isometric MMOs in that list. I can’t understand why that is such a popular perspective in 2024.

If you don’t like isometric or tab targeting I think Pax Dei and Evercraft are the only games left on the list.

Interested in Fractured Online. Installed it, played the safe haven tutorial and once on mainland I realised this game has 29 players at peak time.... Can't beat Outlands.

thanks for making this video. You showed me that I don't need to waste my time on any of them. On a personal note, I really don't like top-down games, sooooo. I like games that are like Gw2 or WOW in style. I find them far more immersive. Most people simply say that I am not a gamer. Fair enough. The two games with Unreal engines looked quite nice, but the game play seemed off-putting for me personally. I would love to see a game with gw2 quality along with the Unreal engine for it's beauty.
