Women could have credit cards and bank accounts since their inception. It was only if they were married that the bank required a sign off from the husband since the accounts would all be linked and his credit was on the line as much as hers. Joint accounts were the norm back then.

The internet gave women more choices. Women are spoiled for choice. It is the difference between a manual type writer and Microsoft Word with all the font choices. When you had a manual type writer, what ever the font was is what it was. Yeah in some types of type writers, you could get different font heads but it was a pain to change the heads plus they were very costly so most people didn't bother getting them. When Word came out people all of a sudden had 10s if not 100s of font choices. When this happened, people noticed that work production slowed because people spent a huge amount of time selecting fonts to the creative.

What these feminists fail to mention is that banks originally gave out credit cards only to businessmen who did a lot of traveling, as they did not want to carry a lot of cash on them. When banks realized what a cash cow credit cards could be, they began doling them out to just about anyone regardless of their ability to pay it back....they targeted women, then sought out college students, then just about anybody who could fill out the application.
