Orson Welles and Oliver Reed descend on Merv Griffin on April 25, 1980. They discuss an unfinished comedy they made together called "Rider," and a surprisingly sober Reed plugs his movie "Dr. Heckle and Mr. Hype."

Simply wonderful television. Sadly, those days are gone.

I was actually Floor Manager for this particular episode. What a privilege, Great days.
I remember Orson always brought his own food with him.
Whether it be sandwiches or
Pie, the food was always wrapped up in ( Clingfilm) aka Cellophane.
Well you can imagine Orsons
Appetite. There was so much
Cellophane. Anyway i decided to recycle the material. If you look at the back of the stage
You can see all the Cellophane.
And that was just one of his
Baguettes.

I realize this is only a partial segment of the program, though I'd be honestly surprised if Merv did not ask Orson to show off his jacket lining, and then compare it with his... "Ooooooo... that's nice."

Fun fact. Oliver Reed's uncle Carol Reed directed the classic film noir 'The Third Man' with Orson Welles.

Orson was keen to move away from the weight loss topic at the start. Rude and insensitive of the host to bring it up with Reed , and for Reed to chat about it, as if Welles wasn't siting there.
