The waters off southern Australia are famous for giant great white sharks. Have been cage diving there and have seen dozens on every dive. They are huge.🦈🦈😮

I learned to scuba dive in Malta in the late 80s. One of our qualifying dives from Comino was moved to a different site off Malta because a great white had been sighted in the area.

Easy to catch..we are not allowed to catch or photograph them - so we rig our traces so that they bite the trace off. They tend to wrap around the metal trace and bite it off higher up...

In the early eighties a friend of mine who was native to Malta but lived in UK went to visit family in Malta and showed me some photos he had taken standing in front of a huge great white that local fishermen had caught and hoisted up from a gantry at the port!

If i was about to donate 5 grand to this and saw that arrogance, i would back out.

To be honest, I really don’t see the point in all of this. It’s like a load of bro science. They’re either there or they’re not. Discovering them isn’t likely to help anything. My experience of humans is that they haven’t helped much when it comes to wildlife.

A bird was killed a few weeks ago by probably a great white in Spain she had her leg chewed off and died from the injury they have been seen in France they def have swam through British waters

Utterly disgusting fact: Spain is one of the biggest commercial shark fishing nations in the world, ranking 4th. They're literally responsible for clearing out the Mediterranean of its sharks, not to mention killing insane amounts of sharks in the Atlantic as well. This is one of those times the EU could finally do some important good by banning shark fishing in all of the EU, as well as outside of EU waters but by EU nations. Perhaps then the populations of GWS, mako's, hammerhead's and others could slowely restore again, and roam the waters that were their home long before us humans started destroying it.

I've no doubt they are in our waters to some degree... Not in numbers though. We have plenty of seals as a food soure and Great Whites are a temperate species. The waters off San Francisco for example are not much warmer than those off Ireland.

However the only Great White seen in this video was the arrogant, egotistical 'Chief of the Mission'.

It's more about ego's than sharks by the look of it.

They didn't even go to the Mediterranean Sea. They stayed in the Atlantic, Northern Spain, France and Ireland, where I believe there have been no confirmed sightings of great whites. There are hundreds of sightings, reports and even attacks of whites in the Med, they should have gone to northern Italy or around Malta. It makes sense to go to the Med if you are trying to tag a great white from the Med not the Northern Atlantic, but what do I know they are the scientists 🤷‍♂️

I suspect any GWS in those contested European waters are a lost animal straying or historical sightings now impossible due to overfishing or otherwise anomaly.
they are unlikely to exist there in biologically representative numbers.
where I come from they are known, seen, they are curious n everywhere. there is a clear large protein sourse and critically watertemps n flows is favorable , that simply doesn't exist where ur focusing
rather than focus on this edge case or fantasy best focus resources for analysis elsewhere
