Linda had everything to gain from her husband’s death—probably a hefty insurance payout and the freedom to be with the dentist she was obsessed with. She likely had access to his car and could easily have staged the crime. Investigators should have checked for her fingerprints and whether the seat position in his car had been altered. It’s hard to believe she’s not more involved, and it feels like she’s slipped through the cracks. There’s something deeply suspicious about the whole situation.

I like how the victims wife acts like she didn't do anything wrong. Like her husband's friend killed him for the fun of it and got away. The whole situation is because SHE and the dentist were bumping bits.

Gil is a scumbag for sleeping with his friend's wife but the investigators seemed to be so fixated on him that they didn't bother to look at other potential suspects. And trying to convict someone over "headlight dispersal" on footage from a grainy gas station camera is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard

Unrelated, in every 48 Hours story that involves infidelity, I find myself always having less sympathy for anyone who is cheating. If divorce is not viable, people should at least tell their partner they want to take a break and then, perhaps, it would give both people the freedom to explore some strange.

Normally I feel pretty good about 48 hours. But this feels skewed towards Gil. The widow doesn’t want to speak on camera. She had had access to everything. She had the same motive. And he seems like a guy that would take the fall for the widow. Also the insistence he wasn’t there along with offering information that would knowingly incriminate him. I would think him innocent. And I’m sorry the “light pool” that’s horse crap. Unless there is precendent in other cases.
