FIXING A BROKEN COUNTRY
The Magnitude of The Task

Q: How big a task is it to fix a Broken Country?

A: So big that it requires that *everyone pull his own weight*.

1. When Capt John Smith led those who fled Europe, into what became the first permanent English settlement in North AmericaーJamestownーhe publicly declared that everyone must contribute in order for everyone to survive and prosper. Thus the statement, "He who will not work shall not eat."ーitself taken from The Bible (2 Thessalonians 3:10).

2. Even Vladimir Lenin declared "He who does not work shall not eat" to be a necessary principle of Socialism.

3. When Turkey's Mustafa Kemalーlater taking the surname "Ataturk", i.e. father of Turksーchose to lead his people from the 7th into the 20th Century, he declared the need to educate both genders: "We cannot progress if we educate only half our population."

4A. Similarly, the burdenーthe missionーof fixing their own Broken Country falls upon, not only the pupils of The Herald Academies, but also upon every local citizen who works within The Herald Estate. By embodying the very Virtues and instincts which The Herald Institute seeks to instill in every pupil, they reinforce the lessons by being role models, thus bring credibility to the mission. And by their example, they bring those expectations home to their spouses and children, who in turn set an example for everyone else they run across in the country.

4B. Even if they leave The Herald Estate, and either seek employment elsewhere, or start their own businesses therefore become employers and managers, therefore teachers. MessengersーHeraldsーof a new Paradigm which needs to be set.

5A. Which is why the best teachers must not only be found from wherever in the world they are, and brought over; the best teachers within the country must be brought in and trainedーnay, instilledーwith the same Values and instincts.

5B. In order that, whether they choose to stay and teach for X-years~Y-decades, or choose to open their own schools elsewhere, they spread the lessons farther.

5C. Therefore the kind of teachers who qualifies as a Herald must be of a particular kindーnot merely one who teaches from a textbook, but one who shapes the character of future adults.

6. Finally, following what Mustafa Kemal Ataturk taught, a Broken Country cannot fix itself if it leaves behind those with physical or mental impairmentsーthey, too, must be instilled with the same Values and instincts, and their respective talents too must be nurtured, in order that they too will pull their own weight.

It is their country as much as it is anyone else's. They deserve to be part of the most noble responsibility of allーcitizenship.
