They have to regulate this more. This is a disaster for this Badger team. There will be a carousel of kids leaving every year. We traditionally take boys and 5 years later (redshirt), you end up being the player we knew you could grow into. Now with no commitment, we are a perfect farm team for the big boys. It's so unfair it's ridiculous. If they don't regulate this, there will be no hope for a Badger football team that can compete. The only way to win is now to buy your luck. We have shown that we won't go for talented kids from the portal, so the system will remain the same. It's a vicious cycle that ends in more losses than wins. Fick picked the worst time to be on the seat. He's managing in a system that doesn't allow him to build the same type of relationships you can if you stay at a school for more than 2 years. So how is he supposed to win again?

Agree Curtis that Fickell is able to change, problem is he is changing back to what Wisconsin football has been for 30 years. Was the original change necessary?

It's so interesting watching a system destroy itself. The UW (and most other) athletic department will be destroyed by NIL. You can't use a one year player who's established zero credibility on the field to advertise your product/services and eventually, in a matter of a couple years, the NIL "donations" will dry up because the return on investment is nil.

Fickell set the precedent with Trech that there is no penalty to testing portal. If you are a decent player, it is now foolish to not go in the portal every year and renegotiate your NIL deal.

To me whether we view the receiver room as improved or not has more to do with hitting on a legit starting QB. Until we have competent QB play, it’s hard to evaluate.

We have to have contracts. I was all for athletes getting paid, but this system is a dumpster fire. Nowhere in the real sports world do you get paid without a contract length expectation with penalties if you don’t honor it. This is bonkers.

We'll miss Pauling for sure. I absolutely felt that he was inconsistent though. He had games where he was far and away the best receiving option, and games where you only noticed him for the drops. Wish him well wherever he winds up. Next year will be Vinnie Anthony Time!

They saw that Fickell is willing to allow guys to dip into the portal to see whats out there in terms of money and come back if not better. This is the result of allowing Trench Kekahuna back on the team after entering the portal. They or one might come back.

No wonder they're out shopping for WRs! They chased off 3 very skilled WRs when they came in, brought in a slew of them via the transfer portal, couldn't get the ball to them in games, and now those are leaving for someplace that can get them the ball. What is going on in Madison?

Pauling had a tough year with a lot of drops and much less production but he had a really nice 2023, he may be able to boost his draft stock with a good season in 2025

Love the fixes that Fickell and the team has in play. how many teams take forever to effect change which is an ultimate frustration. It's getting more exciting for Spring Ball !!!
