Senator Blumenthal speaks out on the importance of the Captive Primate Safety Act (H.R.2856/S.1463) at a press conference hosted by Born Free USA and the Humane Society of the United States.
The star of the event was Charla Nash, a Connecticut woman who was mauled by her neighbor's pet chimpanzee, Travis. She lost her hands and face -- including her nose, eyes, lips, and cheekbones, along with significant brain trauma. As part of her courageous path toward recovery, she has made it her mission to ensure that no one else must suffer a similar fate.
