I had a spiritual experience
It is my belief that when the Savior was suffering in the Garden, each of us we’re able to can and be with Him, we were the angel that came and comforted Him
Time is different in Heaven -
It makes sense to me that we would be allowed to play a part of the suffering

Thank you so much!
I learned a lot from this. My first real earnest care about the atonement was from when I was 14 when I listened to W Cleon Skousen’s “why the atonement was necessary” and how Heavenly Father’s power was due to his being honored by all intelligences in the Universe! A really great talk. Thank you for your own presentation that reminds me about that! His Honor is his Power. He is universally honored and the demands of justice were met by Christ's atonement through the mercy of the intelligences that honor his sacrifice for us. He paid to ransom each of us!

thank you for showing us a framework for our study. When you first asked the question, how are we going to study the atonement? I was thinking --where do es one begin. Thank you so much. There is so much we need to comprehend and know. I can see how even what we have learned from this first lesson can bind our hearts to Christ more fully.

When I was pregnant with my 29 yr. Old son, a cyst grew to the size of a soccer ball in my ovary that had to be removed. The surgery was in my 20th week of gestation. At a later time after my child was born I had another abdominal surgery by another surgeon who knew my history. He explored the healing that had taken place and reported to me in amazement that there was no scarring or evidence that I ever had that surgery…except of course with exception of the missing ovary. Otherwise, I was so perfectly healed there was no evidence. At the time I thought, well, my body is in grow mode…so it healed better. I love knowing now that it was my son who actually helped heal me. Beautiful.

A thought: Every time one is anointed with oil by the power of the Priesthood in the name of the Lord, it is symbolic of applying the Atonement to them. Think healing blessings and the initiatory. Oil represents Gethsemane, of course.

The Atonement of Christ, and the birthing experience of women, are similitudes of each other. Without woman's sacrifice, by shedding their blood, their water, and nurturing our body and spirit in the womb, and because they would often give their life in the early years, we are brought into this world. Our first birth. We are born again through the Atonement of Christ, through his blood in genthsemane, his water when pierced by the spear, and through giving up his spirit, tot hen be resurrected. We are also born again through baptism (like in the womb, we are submersed in water, and come forth out again), and we receive the Holy SPirit and the baptism of fire. It is all connected. There is defiitely a symbiotic relationship between baby and mother.

Not sure if you will see this Bryce, I always thought of that hymnal verse "He only could unlock the gates of Heaven and let us in" as He could only open the door to Heaven and it is our choice if we want to accept the invitation or not. It's interesting to think of it as He is the only one who could open the gates to Heaven because of his character and what he did for us.

There is a footnote in Elder Kearons talk that quotes President Nelson saying that one of the ways Jesus was able to endure the atonement was to focus on joy. His focus was on us the whole time. He focused on the joy of our redemption. On our being able to be cleansed through his suffering and the joy of being able to return to the father. Bryce, thank you so much for your studies and for sharing your knowledge with us. This is so wonderful to ponder this relationship we have with him.

How does the Atonement help with my mental suffering. I've fought most of my life. I've reached out to the Lord for help and guidance. I've tried to help myself. I read The Infinite Atonement, but I still don't understand how it helps me with depression and anxiety. I must not understand. I know His suffering was terrible, but how do I access His help? I'm so sad right now. What if I can't deal with this anymore. My life feels wasted. What's my purpose?

I love your comments about the Savior and His Atonement. I especially loved what you said about mother snd child and the cells of the child. How precious! The Lord is truly the only one in the universe to accomplish this great act of love. How amazing that we would help Him by seeing us. How great the wonder and the love. Thank you for your beautiful thoughts about our precious Lord and Redeemer. There is nobody like Him.
