ОтветитьI wonder how much worse the bark is than the bite.
ОтветитьWell I was using one for about 6 months MG42 (Yugoslav version and very same) when in JNA in 1981. It is a very tricky thing and about 12 kg weight. The first thing we were taught was to old it very tightly when firing. Meaning that when firing laying down or standing behind a wall, we had to lean with the full body weight against the bipod that has been turned for 180 degrees and fixed deep into the ground or on the rocks. In that way the spread of shots would be much lesser as this MG was known to spray the shots all over the place if not held tight enough. Also we were very seldom firing more than 3 shots bursts and in that way on hundred yards I could place all three bullets in the target. During WW2 the length of bursts was making very clear difference when Germans were shooting or the partisans. Basically partisans did not have that abundant ammo as Germans did so they had to make every burst count...
ОтветитьI am not a Nazi at all - just the reverse...! (I emphasize that because i am German. However, in spite of being German i am a little bit proud of the sound of „our“ machine guns (I am absolutely not proud in terms of the reasons these teutonic killer weapons were used for ...PS: Nevertheless.... returning to the aspect of their sound: Can you imagine the sound of all of the three guns when being fired in a row, spitting full blasts of extremely loud volleys in a very short time span ? At least to me they acustically complement with each other in a questionably perfect way - utterly petrifying (And then the typical German manufacturer‘s surname Schmeisser on top...:) PS: By the way: The German Verb „schmeißen“ (Male noun Schmeisser) means to throw. Maybe because you had to throw yourself very quickly to the ground when being attacked with a Schmeisser machine gun!(?)
ОтветитьMP-40 patent sound👍
ОтветитьThey sound cool, especially when the rounds aren't headed your way...

ОтветитьThis makes laddies remember their Eurotrip.
Ответитьyeah good luck
Ответить(almost 10 years late)Fun fact about the 42, its designer was an utter noob at designing MGs, pretty much no knowledge on MGs, though he's an expert at mass production. To design the MG he attended military lectures and interviewed veterans and eventually designed this monster, beating the other competing designs.
ОтветитьThe mp40 sounds like a train
ОтветитьThis what it felt like, not so much sounded like, although that concurs as well, to the hurricane that just had us pinned down under direct fire for 36 hours straight: so NARROW a miss!
But calibre to calibre; 88 mm flak canon, tank buster too! The Gustav railroad gun, then the V1 and V2 while they're making heavy water? That's exponential; well at least according to Heisenberg, who may or may not have been the author of the principle.
actually the 42 has its downsides too… a veteran I know told me that problem was 1)it overheated all the time, constant barrowl change and 2) ammo use ! remember , the ammo truck couldnt be parked around the corner, and in a German heavy MG group was 8 men... 2 MG shooters, 1 with a scoped rifle as close support, 1 leader and... 4 guys to run back and forth to get ammo… when they got the 42 these squads would be 10 men, even 12 men... because of the enourmes ammo spending..
ОтветитьGerman Engineering 1939-1945 Better than U.S

Ответитьgood video i have so much hear fake sound
ОтветитьThe mp40 has the most beautiful gun sound
ОтветитьCoD WWII devs shound have watch this...
ОтветитьDon't know if anyone else noticed, but the guys firing look like robots. They only move when shooting the weapons...once they stop firing, they stop moving and stay at same position; they even can't take the hand out of trigger.
And before the people that can't comprehend what's being said start talking crap, I know it's just the way they used to film things back then. I just think it's a funny detail.
That mg42 is just demoralizing. Imagine hearing that while you're trying to literally becoming part of the ground. That must've been absolutely terrifying.
ОтветитьRIP ears
Ответитьright hands up if you agree that mg42 did a pretty good job on omaha beach
