Vintage/antique French-inspired chairs do have pride of place in our French inspired home. Two (non matching ones) sit by the balcony door in our dining room. One sits in the furniture grouping in the living room. Two vintage chairs are used by my desk and another one sits at my spouse's desk. They're all lovely and truly add the French element to each room.

You just gave me an idea to use an antique chair at my bathroom vanity in lieu of the ugly vanity chair there now. I’ll have to build up the seat with pillows to give me height at the bathroom counter when applying makeup. Thanks for the tip.
