Debt ceiling deadline extended to June 5

I started working since I was 14 years old, as did my deceased husband. I'm now 68 years old. So, for 51 years of my working life, social security was deducted from my paycheck as was my husband before his death. As a widow I can only collect either mine or his social security. Since he earned more, I picked his. However, I am only allowed to get 70% of his social security and had to give up 100% of mine. That's 130% taxation I have pay for social security benefits that my husband and I already earned.

I only hear the GOP MAGA demanding Biden give away all of my benefits as well as well as that of my 87 year old mother's social security widow's benefit too. Get us to go to work the MAGA says. I was already having a problem getting a job in my field when I was 54 years old, I had to work retail until I could retire.

So, if they are making "deals", what's MAGA putting on the table? Nothing! That's right. MAGA is putting NOTHING in the negotiations! They only want Democrats to give, so they can take and give nothing! They demand the retirement funds we already paid into. And two weeks after they manage to steal what we earned, MAGA will be introducing legislation to give the wealthiest a huge tax cut.

MAGA wants to give my social security to the rich, many of them who have not paid taxes in years! So once those ultra rich tax evaders get my benefits, they won't have to pay any taxes. It's not about fiscal responsibility, as MAGA says, if they plan to add more to the deficit by giving the rich more tax breaks and corporate welfare to fund their businesses by using my social security instead of using their own money through the SBA.

We workers made these companies rich through our labor, but that's not enough for those greedy misers. They think they need to squeeze every bit of life we have left for themselves like ruthless vampires.

Just so I understand, the debt ceiling is money that we OWE that we need to PAY for services we have already RECEIVED. They can just extend the deadline whenever they want to? So if I went to a restaurant and ordered food, ate the food, enjoyed the food, and the check came, I could just say “let’s extend this and I’ll pay you in 5 days”? "Extension" is a major misnomer, and a lot of comments here show why.

For the confused: As I understand it there was no act by Congress, this is a revision of the estimated date the Treasury has been providing. As has been stated from the beginning: it's an estimate. An estimate based on a lot of data and hard work, but there's so much money going in and out of the federal government it's understandably difficult to know exactly.

Pay our bills in a timely fashion, the way the Constitution requirs and the taxpayers demand. Don't let propagandists convince you that somehow you don't deserve it. THIS IS OUR MONEY. IT CAME FROM US.
