If I am honest like Richard, Christianity is only unreasonable if a creator god does not exist. If a creator god does exist, it suddenly gets much more reasonable. If a creator god does exist and has all the power religious people claim, I do not have to like that god for that god to exist.

I don't know how to argue if anything is unreasonable when I don't know how to unequivocally disprove a god; at the same time, I cannot unequivocally prove a god... So I can't say someone is unreasonable for believing in one.

But I can definitely say miracles are nonsense if I can prove they did not happen, or if I can prove no higher power exists.

Christianity and evolutionary biology are ideas that exist in different realms. Like quantum theory and theory of relativity. Completely incoherent between each other, but each one makes sense it is own scope. Thinking about our lives, suffering, destiny or community in terms of natural selection and genetics is as bad as thinking about micro-organisms and dinosaurs in terms of God, redemption or sin.

In my view, biologist is the last person to tell you about what should we conscious humans do with our lives, what is my purpose, what is my relation to the mystical idea of God or how should I treat our fellow humans. Likewise a priest and scripture is the last place I should look for if I'm interested how my cells produce energy or how micro-organisms evolve.

And of course, we believe all of these theories tie up nicely somehow in a way that we do not understand yet. Holding conflicting theories as true is better than holding one bad theory of everything as true.
