At times, errors can occur precisely when they're least desired. Scuderia Ferrari provides a prime example during this Formula 1 weekend held at the 5.451-kilometer Shanghai International Circuit in China. It was an occasion where Maranello's technicians were confident they would gain further insights into tire performance. However, unfortunately, the setback experienced in Shanghai still resonates with the Ferrari engineers this morning at the factory. The customary post-race debriefing, conducted calmly on Monday within the Ferrari Racing Division, has a myriad of topics on the agenda. Foremost among them is the tire issue. This is because, unlike the Japanese Grand Prix where challenges were mainly confined to qualifying, in the subsequent Asian round last weekend, the struggle to optimize tire performance persisted during Sunday's race, posing a more significant concern for the Italian team.

The initial phase of the Chinese Grand Prix, although not entirely unfavorable with the medium tires, remains somewhat ambiguous due to the traffic encountered by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in the early laps. However, as the race progressed and both SF-24 cars switched to the Pirelli tires with white sidewalls—the Hard tires—the situation deteriorated unexpectedly. Throughout these stints, the Pirelli compounds consistently operated outside their optimal range. This resulted in temperature imbalances across both axes of the Ferrari F1 car, and despite numerous attempts to rectify the issue, no satisfactory solution was found.

In response, Ferrari is diligently working to introduce a significant batch of upgrades to the track. This effort is imperative and has been strongly advocated by the team's main drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. In Formula 1, an erroneous upgrade can have severe repercussions, pushing teams to the brink. Concurrently, veering off course with upgrades incurs unnecessary expenses, a significant concern given the budget cap regulations. Moreover, it substantially hampers a team's developmental progress, leaving them in a perpetual state of catching up.
