I'm never more excited than when I see a new set review is ready to watch for a format I don't even play ❤
Ответитьin case someone dares to read comments and is involved in this video: thank you for having us. its a pleasure to consume here.
ОтветитьIt’s semi-relevant that quistis lets you ignore timing restrictions if you can blink it.
ОтветитьGood pronunciation on Raubhan Wheeler
ОтветитьI really appreciate Nelly doing a deep dive on brynhildr, these saga creatures are a bit wonky and he did a great job
ОтветитьSurprised knights of round didn't come up, that card seems good for reanimation or rector decks, its just so many bodies. I would think bahamut could make it too, but wheeler implied they're only mentioning the one saga.
ОтветитьI'mma put Zodiark in my sibsig ritual standard meme deck. Will it be good? no. will it be better than the junk i'm running? yes
ОтветитьIt's also incredibly relevant that with the new rules change if your Urza's Saga is on chapter 2 when a Blood Moon comes down you still get to keep making constructs because Blood Moon only removes the natural abilities of the land not those granted by other affects.
ОтветитьPetition to coin the phrase "you can find it on the Cloud" pertaining to any new relevant equipment.
ОтветитьAmbrosia Whiteheart is a new Pixie/Kitty.
I feel like Delivery Moogle might be pretty good as a tutor for decks with like Bomberman.
Freya Crescent seems interesting for Equipment decks, dork early, flyer late.
Red Mage's Rapier seems good in Blitz decks.
I know this isn't what the videos about but Aerith is possibly going to take my Reyhan, Last of the Abzan + Yoshimaru deck to a whole new level.
ОтветитьYay! Love seeing North100 getting sponsor love from Card Kingdom. It means it’s easier to make more Canlander Content, so we all win!
ОтветитьNelly was talking about Discovery/Dispersal.
Interceptor is looking good for any dredge deck playing a Titan
i would love if every set review has a bet on which cards end up mattering
ОтветитьLook, I know it's wrong and I know it's bad and I know that it will lose me games.
There is nothing that will stop me from Rectoring out a Summon: Knights of Round. I will lose that game gleefully.
"i don't like Zodiark is what I'm trying to say" is truly a flavor win from the dev team
ОтветитьSerge, as ever, with an accidental innuendo, telling us Card Kingdom can help us find hot singles in their area.
ОтветитьWheeler, Zack is symbolically represented by a dog (a wolf, I guess) in Advent Children...
ОтветитьThis set is for middle-aged plus people
ОтветитьWith Dion, or rather with Bahamut, I think it's also relevant that when Bahamut turns back into Dion you get another 2/2 Knight. It's not nearly as much upside as the permanent destruction, but it's still a bit of additional upside. Got mentioned with Jill, but even so.
Serge's face upon properly reading Quistis' card more or less matches what mine was back when she was spoiled and I did my own reread.
I hadn't considered Black Mage's Rod for Storm. I was thinking of how it doesn't ping off each copy and not enough about how that's still an extra bunch of damage off each other spell.
Zodiark feels like it'll have it rough in any format that allows Karakas. It's not entirely susceptible to it, but it kills your non-God creatures too, and the round down means it will never hit quite as hard as you want it to. And I think that'd be true if it was only one or two black pips in the 5-mana cost, not all five of them. Maybe fun in a Gods deck, but that just sounds more like a Commander deck than a Canlander one?
Gau isn't quite the Wind God he can be in the SNES game if you break things, but he's close enough. Scary, scary card to have come down across from you, especially since you can probably get things out of your bin on the opponent's turn for the extra hit. (As a total aside, it's neat knowing this was recorded after the EDSC I just finished watching, because Nelson just got Gau here but hadn't yet at the time of that game.)
Yuffie and Stolen Outfit together are really tempting me to try some sort of Jeskai Equipment deck. I suspect I'm going to lose so many games, but I'm also excited to try it out. Boros Equipment is neat but has felt kinda samey for a while, and between the new cards for it and adding some blue I think it'll at least be fun losses for a bit.
i cant like.... its at 420... what do i do?
ОтветитьI think there might be something wrong with the podcast version.
ОтветитьDo you think Il Mheg Pixie will make it into Flying Men? Nightveil Sprite doesn't usually make the cut because it's a 1/2, but 2/1 for 1b is on rate and still surveils every turn.
ОтветитьSuplex will probably see play in decks that want a second copy of Abrade (sorcery, but both modes exile)
ОтветитьIs there a discussion to be had, with such a density of legends, Karakas is sort of less relevant? Like are you going to keep karakasing legends and missing your own land drops for it?
On the flip side, if Karakas is so good, do you play it in decks without white drops? Just treat the white mana it produces essentially as a colourless utility land?
EDIT: A small thing with Yuffie is she says attach not equip. That means you can also use it for things like Lions Sash, and the reconfigure cards. Or you can use it on your Aetherspark, to equip it without needing to use the +1 on that turn.
Excellent, as always. Thank you!
Big Highlander fan.
I think that the upshot of FF is that human synergies get a lot better. There's so many great new humans in this set.
ОтветитьDo you think [Restoration Magic] deserves a mention? For {W} instant protect a thing isn't amazing, but it's also on rate. The other two modes aren't exciting for their cost, but the flexibility of being able to protect your team in the late game or being able to gain a little life in the agro match up seems like worthwhile flexibility. [Diamond Weapon] also seems like it could see play. It's almost certainly an 8/8 with Reach and discount indestructible coming down on turn 3 in most any green/x deck looking to fill the graveyard. But I guess you didn't get to Green yet.
ОтветитьDoes Cloud double trigger if you bring him back with Pre War Formalwear?
The wording is
"When this Equipment enters, return target creature card with mana value 3 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield and attach this Equipment to it."
And so I'm not sure if the "and" means he enters already equipped or if he enters and then it attaches immediately afterwards...
Hear me out on the 6 cmc black primal odin: dance of the dead on upkeep or opponents end step, etb clears the way, swings to win.
ОтветитьI've never been big on the "dies to removal" as a way to determine a cards worth. Nearly every card is suseptible to a form of removal. Yes some more than others, but it feel like a low effort excuse
ОтветитьCloud and Pre-War Formalwear - Doesn't work since Cloud doesn't return with the equipment attached, he returns, and then the equipment becomes attached. When we're checking for triggers after Cloud has entered, the Formalwear isn't attached yet, so Cloud won't get a double trigger.
Attaching Aetherspark after it's already being attacked means it will still be attacked and can still take damage. This is addressed in Gatherer:
If an effect causes The Aetherspark to become attached to a creature while it is being attacked, it will continue to be attacked.
Sephiroth and Karakas - Since Sephiroth doesn't exile himself and return transformed, he's still the same object after he transformed and still being targeted by the Karakas ability (and since the back side is also a legendary creature, he would be returned to the hand).
I think that was all of the rules questions that were ask. Let me know if one was missed.
Here’s a trick for the EU ppl to remember the name of Murders: the setcode is the shorthand for Cardmarkets old name, Magic Karten Markt (MKM).
Ответитьi cant wait until 2030 when they have printed so many cards that every thing that comes up is a upgrade of a old card or two different cards stapled together
ОтветитьWitherbloom Apprentice-type cards only work with Chain of Smog because they specifically trigger off of both casts AND copies (the "Magecraft" templating). You're only casting the spell once, so while you could play a card like Black Mage's Rod in that kind of deck, it's not really doing anything that impressive.
ОтветитьI find it kind of funny that Serge corrected himself calling them Saga Counters with Chapter Counters, when they are Lore Counters.
ОтветитьVaan may be a take on Ragavan, but Ragavan was already a take on Robber of the Rich.
ОтветитьThank you for the disclaimer and subsequent analysis; I've felt crazy these past three weeks as people proclaim this set is going to smash everything. It's just...a normal set??
ОтветитьIt has literally never occurred to me to pronounce Quistis as anything other than "KWISS-tiss"
ОтветитьI doubt it is widely playable but for reanimator I think Ardyn, the Usurper is strong graveyard hate and turns any random creature in your graveyard into a big haste demon
ОтветитьObviously I am not a Magic player so maybe I'm missing something, but is this "Karakus" (or whatever) card always available for an unlimited amount of uses? Seems like it the way they talk about every card xD
Ответить
