At the time you would have worn more of a swing style! Like a sharp a-line. Since this was really at the peak of home sewing there was a lot of dress modding to get around the body vs dress question. My mother is this era and a pear and did a lot of buying bigger and taking the top down and she looks amazing in the pictures
