Who said the PO is being done away with? They do need more restructuring. Parcels can be delivered by others. Decoder rings isn't a good argument. If the PO has slowed down then that stuff would only be delayed a couple of days. 6 day delivery to all addresses in the USA---nobody does that. Saturday delivery without an added fee---nobody does that. Carrier watch program---I don't think anyone else does that. At least not 6 days a week. Pays a livable wage for families, good benefits, uniform pricing on first class letters. 1 stamp can mail a letter across the street or across the country and also be forwarded for free as many times as the person has moved within a year. If communications were wiped out then letters could still be possible and is already in place. China is already working on satellites that could do just that --to us. One reason for the Space Force. The USPS would be very useful and necessary if that were to ever happen. If the USPS were privatized it would have to remain intact. New owners would charge low rates in big cities and huge rates for rural areas, would cut delivery days, pay less wages (this was experimented with years ago with magazines in San Diego and Atlanta. People quit leaving their delivery bags and walked away). I think these are good arguments. Not sentiment.
