so... New elevators. I kind of expected advancements in led lighting, energy conservation by installing new windows and better wall insulation. Maybe in the update of the 22th century then.

I love the Empire State Building as much in my 70's as I did when I was 10 years old. Hope to travel to NYC and see it again before I die. The new and taller NYC buildings mean nothing to me. Guess I am getting old and set in my ways, uh?

What an incredible building the ESB is; it's looks haven't age one bit, still an imposing beauty. As from inside however I thought it felt very oppressive and claustrophobic...does any body agree?

When you hear the word “modernized” on a building of this age is always a bad thing because it means that something has been lost with its history …. And that’s the case with the Empire State Building as when you go inside and see the those areas you can visit it seams just just stepped in inside on of those dreadful modern skyscrapers….. what you change in these buildings are only things related to safety like elevators and modernize safety and evacuation areas … with the windows being are fair territory

I’m afraid to say that for this building it has gone too far killed a lot of its original art deco charm

This was an elevator company advertisement that briefly spoke about the Empire State building.

"retaining the historic style" on the outside yeah but that interior is a travesty. Theres no reason why the symbol of interwar America's opulence and hubris should look like an ikea showroom.

IT IS A ZOO TO VISIT EMPIRE STATE BUILDING NOW. 10K PEOPLE PER DAY OR MAY BE 20K WEEKENDS. THAT IS RIDICULOUS NUMBER! SO AT ANY TIME THE BUILDING MIGHT BE HOUSING 20K PEOPLE IF VISITORS ALONE ARE AVERAGING 12K PER DAY. YOU CANT STAY THERE FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR I THINK. JUST TAKE A LOOK FOR 15 MINUTES: COUPLE OF SELFIES ETC AND GET THE HELL OUT THERE. IF THERE IS RESTAURANT OR SOMETHING THEY WOULD BE CHOP A BLOCK!! SURELY ALL THAT MONEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED TO MODERNIZE. 4 MIL VISITORS IS STAGGERING!!!

I'm from the West Coast of the US. We are a snotty bunch, and even when we are impressed, we're pretty good at looking blase behind sunglasses. This just can not be done when speaking of the Empire State Building. We will peel our Ray-bans off and gape as anyone else familiar with it must do. Of course, leaving your mouth open in New York is a risk the locals wouldn't ever do.
Now B1M...tapping my toe...I'm sure Otis helped you in so many ways since B1M has got to have demographics that must make Otis' advertising department weep openly in praise of Icarus for a chance drop dime on their new product.
This is good/bad of course. Great: B1M punches out another video, alas the only thing B1M is Fred. I'm not looking for reportage such as 60 Minutes but I'd ask you to consider some situations when taking advantage of proffered video assets, it becomes easier to go to production without more than one opinion or a product that is a solution somewhere else in or out of New York. Perhaps I am a closeted NY groupie; it would explain a sudden self-loathing that has overcome me, but I like NY just because it is so American it hurts I could go on and on about ethnic food alone, but NY is for building and building groupies, the motherload of workarounds, with what appears to be a committee following whatever action is or is not going on. The best part is to pick out a particularly cranky sort of crowd and ask as a group question, What's going on?
Make sure the tripod is steady, and no one looks particularly sketchy, then Go In Search of a good deli. This is not hard, damn them.
Show idea: take us behind the scenes. I know you are spread all over the place, it's gotta be all remote work. Someone has a drone that must be a monster. Now if all Fred does is strip to his skivs, crack's open a brew, and a couple of slices of dead pizza no one put away in at least a couple of days, maybe watch the dog show in London--this we don't want to see. As a 14 year old in the late sixties, me and my other thug friends climbed the 80 flights to the observation deck to only get busted when we got there. I don't recall what happened at that point in time.

How the freaking hell did they build that in just over a year.

By now we all know this was not built by us in 1 year in 1931. Simply impossible.

No matter how many times you look at the "Empire State" you'll always get inspired by it's brilliance.
