ОтветитьClose your curtains, Pete!
ОтветитьAbsolutely Peter.... Lack of respect for Big T and his goals in that first season is sensational. Deserves to be kept in peoples minds when criticising at the moment
ОтветитьBove is great for Roma - bit of an animal. I’ve seen him live many times
ОтветитьThe problem with awonyi is hes injury prone and he made a colossal mistake last night it's not that I don't rate him when he's at his best but we cannot wait for that to happen
ОтветитьWhat about the woman knitting last night 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьHas anyone seen Awoniyi strike a ball 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьGive Awonyi some time, he will come good 👍
ОтветитьPete, fantastic comments about a player who lets not forget in the season prior to joining was vying with Haaland for Bundeslige goals scored. He did ok last night, perhaps bit out of practice, so imo a stint in the reserves might actually be a route back for him to build some steam, not sure premier league level is doing much for him right now. If we get the new striker perhaps that would be possible.
ОтветитьIf Andre is so good, why are we letting Wolves get him?
ОтветитьBove more a no 8 rather than 6 though. A box to box workhorse to replace Danilo rather than cover for sangare
ОтветитьAwonyi is clearly not fit enough and needs game time. The only positive I can take from last night was he got minutes. Definitely missing the spark he had on arrival hopefully just a fitness thing.
ОтветитьSosa is good enough but he needs some extra training - a bit if weight lifting - to fit his game into the PL demands.
ОтветитьGonna have to catch up in this one Matt. Just popped in the Nav and I believe just missed you. Cracking time last night stayed over at the Leonardo which was full of Geordies 😂
ОтветитьDisagree Pete. Nothing about the penno miss... Taiwo is not fit and more than any other player at the club he struggles with his pace & goalscoring when he's not 100% Not slagging Taiwo off in any way, Wood should have come in after 60-70 mins 👍🏼 Do agree about respect though... Taiwo kept us in the Prem first season and started last season on fire until his injury 🙄 Taiwo could come out on Saturday firing, he's that kind of player 👍🏼
ОтветитьAina our best left back
ОтветитьPete would still have cooper in charge,Petes a complete snowflake who crys when he sees golden retrievers
ОтветитьWith MGW's likely England appearance.....we will owe Wolves another £9m ??? That's not good for our finances when we NEED another Striker !!
ОтветитьIt’s OK saying we need to respect Tiawo and remember what he’d done for us in the past
Sadly, sentiment cannot be afforded in this League, it’s brutal and will punish you unmercilessly if you don’t approach it in the right way
The FACT IS we cannot afford to be carrying people whilst they get their fitness back or their confidence back or their previous performances back -we cannot afford passengers _ and Tiawo at present offers nothing - these are professional players for God’s sake - and I don’t think we should be pampering to their already overinflated wages or ego
we’re in a brutal business, no point in getting relegated but saying Tiawo might come good one day
We need players like Jota who can come in and hit the deck running - Awoniyi sadly is way off and doesn’t deserve a place in the squad
Pete you sometimes try to paint a picture that’s totally untrue
You say ‘we need to remember what he went on to do for us last season’
What precisely did he do for his last season? Yes he started the campaign on fire and scored something like 6 goals but then did nothing really from November till the end of the season. He was completely and utterly missing and offered nothing
So, for you to say we need to remember what he did for his last season, is frankly laughable.
What we need to remember is that he’s a striker that is actually paid to score goals - and yes he scored six goals at the start of the season and that was great. It would’ve been fantastic if he went to play 30 odd games and scored 20 goals but he didn’t. He was missing for 3/4 of the season, did nothing and frankly that is unacceptable.
Don't get the love for Merino his defending was horrific.
ОтветитьTaiwo needs minutes and our support. At times last night he held the ball up really well (he’s far more dominant than Wood at holding the ball up) and with more game time he’ll get sharper. He was close on a few occasions to getting on the end of through balls. He’s never been a great striker of a football so I was surprised to see him take a penalty. He should never take a penalty again. Keep the faith with him though. We need Chris Wood and Taiwo and hopefully a 3rd striker to take us to the next level of goals scored.
ОтветитьThank you Pete. It's a joy to hear someone say 'I'm no expert and refrain from giving an opinion. Social media is full of people with no expertise incessantly bellowing their opinions and it's immensely wearing.
ОтветитьAgree 100% about Taiwo Pete.
ОтветитьYates had a stomach bug.
ОтветитьDanilo back in December.
ОтветитьThank god for Pete Blackburn and his balance and perspective. Big T will come good.
ОтветитьWell said Pete on Taiwo 👏👏👏
ОтветитьDisagree Matt... I could see (not in hindsight) in Sangare & Taiwo that they would probably miss and it proved so.
Ответить"that guy is going to miss this pen" is 100% at the root of hindight bias. Hear hear!
This pod is so good at being wary of biases.
Every football fan ought to be very mindful of:
Hindsight bias (the commonest BS humans tell themselves)
Results bias (similar, the tendency to say "we won 1-0, let's examine only what went right" versus "we lost 0-1, let's examine only what went wrong")
Novelty bias ("look what Sosa did!" being more salient than "MGW barely matched expectations")
Clustering Illusion ("CHO scored in two consecutive games, he's on a STREAK!")
Stephen Jay Gould's famous essay Streak of Streaks should be compulsory reading for any science minded sports fan. Especially the bit where he cites Amos Tversky's debunking of the "hot hands" myth in basketball. Relevant to all sports.
Thanks for the stats at minute 40 and double thanks for the caveat of "small sample size". Hashtag science :)
