Apple Watch Ultra 2 Black - The Good and Bad - 1 Month Later

Planning upgrade to ultra from se2, but this black ultra 2 is just an old watch with new colour, so might as well wait for ultra 3

The bad is that i cant see a map live to get out the road, back track sucks

Bought one a month ago and love it. I think if you have money to throw away and want an Apple Watch, go ahead and get it (or if you’re into extreme sports). I think for the normal everyday person tho, the Apple Watch 10 is good for them. But this is a watch I know will last me for several years. I don’t know why there are people angry it’s not a completely new upgrade, these watches aren’t being made to be swapped out every generation

I just ordered the Ultra 2 in black.I have always had the regular Apple Watch.

Mine has not survived contact with stone. Kitchen counters, surfaces like that very easily scratch away the black coating around the the display edge.

First ever Apple Watch I got and it was that black ultra 2. Wish the battery lasted longer. That’s the only issue. Shouldn’t we have the tech to make a battery that’ll juice one of those things for a week or better? Garmin does

I just bought the black Apple Watch Ultra yesterday and I’m waiting for a case to come in the mail so I can keep it protected from scuffs and scratches

I have the watch for 2 months and I exercise 90 minutes a day 5 times a week and have not scratched it. How did you manage to scratch it in 1 month of use with very light activity!!!! You are a watch hooligan!!!! The watch is the most scratch resistant in the market but if you are not careful you can scratch it!!! I have a friend with a natural titanium and he has scratches because he is not careful. I do not agree that the natural titanium is more durable the black is more durable bout this depends on the person wearing it!!!

Given the durability issues with the black coating, it seems like the natural titanium is the better choice if you actually do outdoor activities.

Very poor, if you tap on any metal, it leaves a mark, only buy the original titanium…black is out😢

I upgraded to the AW Ultra 2 in Satin Black on launch day. Thus far, I’ve worn it while traveling, working out, hiking, etc. It still looks brand new.

I use wear mine everyday and sleep with it but the problem I have is with Spotify music, I try to play music on my watch rather than phone and it only works half the time, it’ll load then not switch my music from iPhone to watch. I have to turn off my phone then it works immediately

Hi, I have a problem with my Apple Watch ultra first generation so when i enable always on mode on Apple Watch and when it’s on table or somewhere the screen doesn’t stay on but when it’s on my wrist it does how can I fix that can you help me ?

Excellent review! I will keep my series one ultra and see what happens next year. The only reason I’m thinking about getting another one is my battery health has dropped to 85% so I’m not getting two full days anymore. Based on this review, I will continue to keep the natural titanium when I get another.

What watch face is that ??

Bought the new black titanium AWU2 happy with everything. My biggest issue is the screen dimming. It’s dimming when it’s dark. The solution prpvided by apple “minimum brightness” seems to work counter intuitively as it basically bricks screen brightness setting.

What apple neds to do is use the screen brightness setting as the minimum plus input from ambient light sensor or a min max setting. If this isn’t possible they could jusr make a control center button for screen brightness.

Im loving the ultra2 in black so far. To me it looks and feels so much better than the natural titanium I had with the ultra 1. No scratches at all; I understand that with the black coating, over time you might see some scratches- not something I’m worried about at all.

Just got my ultra 2 black for almost $100 less on Black Friday deal and it’s amazing so far it definitely lasts longer than my 9 and 6

For the people who those are using black one and have scratches and nicks, there is a solution just use a black permanent marker and it’ll fix that, not like original or new one but it works.

I just upgraded from a series 7 to ultra 2 black and I love it so far. I only had it for a day so I will come back with an upgraded review. But I have a nic in it already not the screen but on the sides

I still have the original Ultra. It has worked flawlessly for me since its release over two yrs ago with its battery health still lasting well over two days. I think that the only thing that eill make me upgrade in the future is 1) longer battery health, like one week, and 2) possibly a new design, but this is doubtful as I think the Ultra looks great and is not too big for me.

I wasn’t happy with the Black Ultra 2 I got either, returned it and got a Black Watch 10. Really I wish I’d kept my original Ultra. It was a superb watch.

Does your on board Siri work? On my black Ultra2 it won’t work offline like it’s supposed to.

I traded in my Ultra 1 for 2 black on Oct 21, this year. Besides the black color, it is apnea feature. I wanted to know if I have sleeping issues. I have been sleeping with it and very happy with it.

What’s the band you’re using and where did you get it

Nothings really changed in 5 years. Even the speed is still slow

My only complaint with the Apple Watch Ultra 2 (black) , is there is so many features on the watch, 2 months in I’m still learning new things.
Mine a couple of months in still looks pristine .
One of things I love about this watch is, I can be in a supermarket which has quite a lot of ambient noise and take a phone call on the watch , and the person on the other end can hear me as clear as bell, also having a phone in your watch means you never miss a phone call , and the haptics on the watch are great.
For me the biggest draw cards to the Apple Watch Ultra was the robustness of the watch, ( watches usually don’t last me long) , and the battery life , and these are the main reasons I didn’t go with the other Apple Watch model.

I have a natural titanium ultra 1, a black titanium ultra 2 and a gold stainless steel series 6 which I rotate between. I had the black ultra since it became available to the public and don’t have a scratch on it. I mostly wear it under normal everyday conditions but love it when vacationing. The batter life is noticeably better than the ultra 1. Both the ultra 1 and black ultra 2 look amazing with the apple titanium loop bands. I wear these watches 6 days a week.

I have the Spigen case on it. Looks great!

I have an AW 10 and it does the same job, but the real “Ultra” is my Garmin Fenix 7X Pro, with 30 days battery and tons of metrics.

The Ultra 2 Black is my first Apple Watch. Big fan of the color and the battery lasts as advertised. How ever accidentally banged it at a doorpost and a tiny shiny spot is showing at certain angles. 😢 With that said I expect a lot worse considering the noise it made smashing in to the post.

The scratches are disheartening after one month.

I had DLC coated watches in the past and they never went scratch or rub free. The problem is that you can see it now even better because the lighter Ti is visible. If you watch the sell the watch eventually, keep this in mind!

I haven’t had any problems with scratching or nics but I have a problem with charging. Every week or so I have to hard reset the watch in order to get it to charge.

I upgraded from the 7 to the Ultra black and so far so good. I got a screen protector that covers the screen and the top edge, that did the trick.

I have to constantly power mine off and on to get the battery charge started. Very frustrating. I think I am going to schedule an appointment at the Apple Store to have it looked at since I have Apple Care +

series 10 is more better than ultra

I got my Ultra 2 last year right before the “ban” and I couldn’t be happier. I messed around with the Series 10 a little and I just couldn’t take it. The battery life isn’t even close. I’m thinking of getting the black ultra 2 to have 2 Ultras.
