The 45 is 11.43mm's and the 10 is 10 🤷‍♂️
The 45 is 255gr and the 10 is 220. Lighter bullet will travel faster.

You do realize that velocity is affected by temperature. The colder it is, the lower the velocity! What is the temperature in this video, about 200 below? Yet the shooter reacts with genuine surprise that Underwood ammo has failed to measure up! How about shoot it again when the temperature is about 60 degrees WARMER and I'll bet you the velocity will be closer to advertised spec.
It's completely possible to load ammo to expected temperature conditions so if you want 10mm to actually reach 1,200fps during an ice age, you need to do the load development under those conditions, then clearly mark that ammo as unsafe to shoot above a stated temperature unless you've fully tested it up and down the spectrum.

Chuck, I may have missed you making a correction and saying that the 45 Super over performed, the box only says 1075 fps and you were clearly above that in speed. When you shot it you said that it "under performed" perhaps you had a different advertised velocity in mind ? In reality it was faster than advertised on the box.

The 450 SMC is another flavor of the 45 Super that works in any chambering capable of 45 Super, but its got slightly better performance and a 255 hardcast solid loading.

It's a shame Underwood & buffalo bore are the only true 10mm offerings, which i think should be criminal given the purpose and need of such a round.

I would like to see someone do the 45 Super vs. 10mm comparison with stock barrels. something closer to stock guns. it seems to me, heavier recoil springs is probably the first upgrade you should get with these heavy hitters.

I have both G20 setup for 200/220 Hardcast and G21 setup for 45 Super both with KKM barrels for Alaska trails .

10 mm my choice

Here in TX where it's summer 11 months out of the year, I have a glock 40 & a glock 41. So I run .45super and 10mm. I get 1200fps from the G41 and 1300fps from the G40. So it's 815ft/lbs vs 825ft/lbs so only 10lbs difference.

Chuck, I don't know if you've seen the video where a Cape buffalo is taken with two well placed 10 mm 200 grains HC shot from a 1911 style handgun. The distance is about 30 yards.

My opinion is 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Given the 45 Super was 30 grains heavier, and not coated, and the 10mm barrel was a small tad longer, I would call it very close although the 10mm did have the velocity advantage. I agree that either one would give a bear a migraine headache. I like the fact that new life has been given to an old cartridge although I am also a fan of the 10mm.
The 1911 is not your grandpa's .45 anymore.

Instead of G20 this year it will be my 45 Super G21 with 5.2” KKM and 250gr Hardcast at 1083 FPS handloads. Very impressed with the 45 Super.

Any hardcast flat nose has done all it is going to do at 1100 fps.

My uncle killed a charging griz in Montana a few years back with one shot of his 45 super with 255 grain hard cast handloads.

45 SUPER BABY! The 45 was an out of production box. For it to perform equally to a 10mm, the supposed 'king of the woods" as far as autos go, is impressive. For all intents and purposes, it 45 SUPER 💯% performed equally.

Missouri Bullet Company makes a great 255 grain hard cast HiTek coated lead. I would suspect that bullet even in a 45 ACP might penetrate as much as the 10mm. Sometimes more velocity is less penetration. Each bullet would need tested for the sweet spot. At 925 fps in my 45 ACP it went through 2 pieces of OSB board and 7 gallons of water jugs and kept on going. That is enough penetration by any standard and it is opening a 45 caliber wound channel even if it doesn't deform. The 45 allows you to get back on target faster for followup shots.

Let’s be honest we all love the 10mm bc it bridges the gap between us wanting a 45acp and wanting speed and penetration like the 9mm and we get more energy delivered down range with the 10mm.

Older ammo can lose a little performance. So I would choose the 45 super.
But if I could find both rounds made by the same company new, I would suggest testing again to see if it tested out the same as this test.

I use the 45 super. I have found that the 45s cycle is MUCH more reliable than the 10mm (especially in adverse conditions), so I prefer the 45s size, power, and reliability—it is what I bet my life on. The 45 super's "TKO Factor" is 18, and the 10mm's is 15.

No sir. Every time a super slow camera (600000 FPS) is used, the 45ACP will make a HUGE hole bare eye or mid cameras cant catch. And if the argument is killing bears, if you check true sources of information such as Chuke's Outdoors youll see several grizzlies killed by regular 45ACP 230Gr ball ammo. Anything youre using here is absolute overkill so you spend your hard earned $ on bullets.

Human ballisctic torsos, those that are accurate to real human anatomy, show how the 45ACP is superior. It makes a huge huge hole.

Gel, however, shows the 10MM to be better. Always. And so does bare eye.

If you speak to a WW2 survivor, if there are any left like I did in 2016 New Hampshire, youll find the effectiveness of 45ACP 230Gr ball ammo.
