DS Arms SA58 Review | Should you buy the FAL for Poors?

I own two SA58s; one is a para variant, and the other is standard.
Long story short, para variants are known for having a myriad of issues. (Para means paratrooper, and they have different recoil systems.)

Edit: Recoil issues almost entirely coincide with para variants. And the lack of reliability is in part due to DSArm's use of light recoil springs.

The short stroke doesnt satisfy as well as the long stroke...even with the long barrel you gotta get that long stroke or she aint happy

DSA FAL SA58 M249 Saw Style Pistol Grip takes care of the bad grip angle. I have the full sized rifle without that folding stock made of various parts spanning decades. My abomination has no feed issues. The para version is crap.

If u think the FAL is hard recoiling...dont EVER try a G3😂.. Argentina and the Favelas in Brazil love the FAL to this day. U guys are lookin at FAL thru Zoomer AR15 lenses. For its time it was absolutely the best choice and the US troops got screwed into luggin a 14lb wood and steel Garand with a mag shoved in. MAC did a head 2 head with FAL vs G3 vs AR10. IMO ill keep my Galil in 308 over all the other Cold War 308s

Hey smart ones if you’re having trouble with jamming and feeding issues try adjusting the gas block. Might help if you actually know about the gun you’re shooting if you’re gonna post about it.

YOU SHOULD DO IT, IN ITALY it is the opposite situation: we are forced to buy only old stuff, if I wanted to buy a brand new american sa58 i would have to pay 2700-3300 euros, its not for poors

I have a DSA from when they used parts kits and a receiver made by LMT, it's rock solid. The first thing out of someone's mouth who knows what they are looking at is "how much do you want for it." :)

Yeah dsa magazines are trash, out of 7 only 1 feeds as reliably as either argentine, german or belgian magazines

Can’t watch your videos for a number of reasons. You talk over each other. Not familiar with guns you’re shooting. Just a bunch of shooting without hitting anything. No true reviews. Work on it.

Would be nice to have an update on these, to see how they run when properly cleaned and lubed.

FAL is above and beyond any opinion, in combat if you have one you will take to the battlefield the chaos, death and fear !

I have a century arms L1A1 built on an impel receiver, (uses metric mags) . It has been nearly 100% reliable. I have put between 2500 and 3000 rounds through it, and I have only experienced 2 malfunctions, one of which was caused by the ejected shell hitting the carry handle and bouncing back into the action before the bolt closed on the next round. Not sure why those dsa rifle are giving you so much trouble, but the "real" ones are a bird of a different feather.

Lots of criticism for such a prolific rifle. 71 years, used around the world. It has popularity and a legacy. You never will.

Did you tune the adjustable gas block? Mine ejected HARD unitl i choked it down a bit. The polymer mags may be a weak point, but i love mine and have had no issues.

Obviously lube , then adjust your rifles ejection and gas timing , shells should be violently ejecting rear 2pm position .

For those saying all the FALs are 100% no. Just no. I had a Century arms FAL that was great but every now and again would malfunction. Notably when the rifle started ti dry up it didn't like to operate with underpowered ammunition. It needed some good higher preserve ammo. Gas settings all worked great, and I was even able to remediate the issue with the gas settings to a point.

DS Arms does build "real ones". They bought the machinery and blueprints used to build Austrian STG58 rifles and moved it al to America.

DSARMS FN-FAL is now better than the original. I've owned both. With the trigger job, extended mag release and extended bolt stop release, they are awesome. Highly respected by foreign militaries for keeping their FAL's running. Can't say enough about their quality.

Hit and miss. I’ve heard good and bad things. Had mine for a while only had one real issue which I was able to narrow down to the magazine (occasional double feed). I also haven’t pushed the limits to any serious extreme. I keep all my guns lubed and I haven’t been doing mag dumps or covered it in mud or anything of the sort. I like it. Wish it wasn’t quite as expensive. Take the good with the bad and do what you can, I guess.
