I’ve finally watched Genlock. It’s actually a good show. Unlike some of RT’s other shows.
ОтветитьCammie being a bunny in VR shows us that she's a furry
Ответитьfor me the show was ok. just really forgettable. its not something i would watch again
ОтветитьSo Rwby2.0?
ОтветитьI would say the coin flip in the opening could certainly be interpreted as suspicious. If one thinks about the idea of coin’s being two faced anyways.
Ответитьrooster teeth come up with good concepts but they always do a shity job and don't take time to make the show great or they just don't continue with the show
ОтветитьShould I watch genlock?
ОтветитьI'm a casual viewet so i tend to enjoy things while i watch them. I don't often dislike things until i review them afterwards. I can only remember 2 times where i hated what i was watching during the watch. Star wars episode 9 and genlock. It is mostly good and i love almost everything in it but how they handled chase pisses me off.
His injuries were a big deal. The death of his family is a big deal. Not being the real chase is a REALLY big deal. Being locked out of his body is a big deal. They could have made a show twice as long about just these things, instead they relegated it to a few episodes and resolved it in such a lackluster fashion, though admittedly that's subjective. Ultimately i feel the same about this as i do about the white fang. Big problems require proportionally big solutions.
Other than that i loved the show.
I just watched finished this and honestly the biggest thing that really got me bored throughout the whole thing was that I didn’t know the stakes. As you’ve said, there’s absolutely no setup for the fight and overall conflict. Why should I be invested? What’s the goal of “The Union”? What’s the purpose of The Polarity (is that it? I never really heard it properly lol)? What happened to the United States of America to where it’s no longer the USA? These are never explained and it ruins the entire show because I have no idea of what’s at stake and why it matters. “The Union” is just a copy paste of The Federation from CoD: Ghosts yet somehow done worst.
Edit: btw, Leon in the earlier episodes is said by the Doc to be Gen:Lock Compatible but he’s too old for it to be safe, hence why he ends up in a coma.
I still remember how bored I was watching this I'll give the show this it did do character development better then RWBY but the plot seems dry
ОтветитьI feel like they hasn’t seen the end credit scene on the last episode?
Ответитьi liked...well, i liked Miranda, Miguel and Kamy... and those were the things i liked about this show
Edit - Imagine having more character development in this disappointing series than in 8 seasons of RWBY
“Sinclair” was not really Sinclair at all. He was an imposter working for the Union who had a physical resemblance to Sinclair. Due to him not being the real deal, he was not compatible with the Gen:lock program and got his brain fried. The real Sinclair was shown at the end of the season trying to escape Union territory
ОтветитьThe suit are giving me gundam
ОтветитьI always forget this show exists. When people say RoosterTeeth, most people think of RWBY, Achievement Hunter, Red vs Blue, RT Animated, maybe X-Ray & Vav, and I think Funhaus.
ОтветитьCammie feels like a RWBY character transplanted in lol just in design and tone i mean. Vibrant colors, upbeat generally
ОтветитьThis show was definitely made FOR mech fans, big time. The whole thing is a love letter to different generations: Mech warrior, war of the worlds, BIG GUNDAM ENERGY, Evangelion(because EVERYTHING IS EVA, lol)
ОтветитьIf you want a good mecha series then may I suggest titanfall 2
ОтветитьIts a shame the shows awful because i really like it i like the story they tried to go for and im also easily entertained so i feel like im biased
ОтветитьHere a year later with half of Season 2 out and... Gods above it's trash. It's like going from Volume 4 right to the ends of Volume 7 and 8. With the animation level of early Volume 2.
Ответитьthats not gender fluid. but i understand the confusion
Ответитьseason 2 gets really bad tho.
ОтветитьI've read you tweet about season 2. Is it that bad?
ОтветитьIt's so bad😂😂😂
Ответитьseason 2 review when?
ОтветитьAre you gonna review season 2. If so when?
ОтветитьSeason 2?
ОтветитьIt doesnt look that impressive
ОтветитьQll the money went to the voice cast.
ОтветитьDamn. Hard disagree on the first episode. That fight was pretty great.
It was not really hard to understand what was going on with the fight.
Things arent explicitly explained and there are a lot of lesser details that are great but not needed to understand whats going on.
Its pretty obvious its a big oppressive government. There are a lot of smaller details like propaganda and drone design that add flavour but you dont need to pick up on all of them to get the gist.
I thought that showing the relationship was a good way to quickly get invested in the characters. They were quickly showed to uave good chemistry before the fight. It felt pretty humanized, even though it was relatively short.
Really disappointed they didnt explore the family eacaping better in season 2...
Season 2 hurt so freaking much
Wait, was the guy that got the coma the guy that Chases girl was dating?
Cause thats a pretty interesting setup for relationship conflict, but it did need a bit more exploration
Roosterteeth’s version of Titanfall
ОтветитьGlad you enjoyed the show too. However, some unfortunate news regarding the second season: It's really bad.
ОтветитьYou should review camp camp.
ОтветитьJust to make it clear the girl with he hijab isn’t wearing a hijab, many cultures had their own version of a head dress and hers isn’t islamically based
It’s like me wearing a knock off pope hat and saying I’m Christian
Now for Season 2!
…Oh god
Yeah about that comment about the second season hopefully improving......
ОтветитьSo sad it never got a season 2
ОтветитьI tried to get through Pacific Rim several times and just couldn't do it, so I understand where you are coming from. And I agree, this series is a complete disappointment.
ОтветитьSeason 1 was rough and rocky, but there were glimmers of charm here and there. It could work out...
Season 2 decided working out was for bodybuilders and people who liked Mecha series and just went all in on smashing everything.
Then season 2 happened, barely anyone knew it was happening, and whatever good season 1 did was immediately flushed down the toilet for a story about how cults are actually right about drinking the kool-aid, sex, the super advanced enemy were actually religious zealots because shut up, Miranda's bush because HBO, Yaz and Chase's entire relationship was flushed away, more sex, Cammie commits suicide out of left field and becomes a higher life because shut up, weirdly cut sex that's intercut with Chase facing his own mental demons because I guess that was someone's kink, suicide is in fact the key to human ascension, Chase gets to be put back in his body even that should be impossible because shut up, main and supporting characters die very suddenly, then Chase commits suicide to ascend himself, all of his development form the S1 finale gets undone off screen, the Union is winning again more than ever despite the heroes finally pushing them back because shut up, random shot of Sinclair's dick because HBO, and now both sides are equally awful and corrupt out of nowhere yet seemingly have the exact same end goal because SHUT UP! Oh and og Chase was in fact not tortured and brainwashed by the Union as was previously believed, they just flipped a switch to make him hyper aggressive all the time....which somehow didn't result in him immediately turning on and attacking them, but instead made him completely cooperative....I don't think anyone at HBO actually watched Season 1 and instead just kinda skimmed the cliff notes.
ОтветитьWhen Genlock S1 came out I really liked it. I was really into Titanfall 2 at the time, so I just got into it easily because of its vaguely similar "Future, guns, and big mechs", and the plot was... decent. Shows like those are watched more for the characters and the action scenes than the plot itself (Similarly to, for example, RWBY, another RT's IP that I also enjoy despite its numerous hiccups). The plot was not award-winning material, but it at least wasn't eyebrow-raising.
Genlock S2 is a mess. It has SO MANY DESTRUCTIVE IDEAS that I actually wonder, is that even legal to show? Like GLORIFYING DOOMSDAY CULTS AND RITUALISTIC SUICIDE (and then doing the disgustingly hypocritical "if you are struggling seek mental help")? Did someone ACTUALLY READ THROUGH the script and greenlit it?
This is so shitty. Ugh.
Would love to hear you rant on season 2, although wouldn't recommend ever touching this piece of shit for your own entertainment.
The only time giant robots weren't awesome
ОтветитьDont watch the second season
Ответитьand Gen Lock only has 2 Seasons so we'll never know if they plan to continue the Series
ОтветитьOhh you didn't even get to season 2, Season one is actually good but S2 is just pure garbage and the main theme of it is Sex and Shock
ОтветитьIf Gen:Lock and Starship Troopers were to combine, it could result in a thrilling and action-packed universe. Here's a possible scenario:
In a future where humanity has colonized other planets, the Terran Federation from Starship Troopers faces a new threat: an alien invasion like the Diagnoses from Gen:Lock. To combat this menace, the Federation develops advanced mechs, inspired by the Synchros from Gen:Lock.
The combined universe would blend the sci-fi elements and action of both series, exploring themes of patriotism, duty, and the human cost of war.
Some possible storylines:
- "Invasion Frontlines": The Mobile Infantry and Gen:Lock's pilots join forces to defend against the alien invasion.
- "Mech Warfare": The heroes develop new strategies to combat the aliens' advanced technology.
- "Unity in Diversity": The combined forces learn to put aside their differences and work together to save humanity.
This combination would create a rich and exciting narrative, exploring the intersection of patriotism, technology, and humanity in the face of overwhelming odds.
If Gen:Lock were to be like Exoprimal or Pacific Rim, it could result in a thrilling fusion of mecha, action, and sci-fi elements. Here's a possible scenario:
Gen:Lock: Mech Hunters
In a world where technology has advanced to merge human minds with machines, a team of elite pilots, known as the "Syncers," pilot powerful mechs called "Syncros" to fight against an alien threat.
Influences from Exoprimal:
- Fast-paced, action-packed battles against monstrous enemies.
- Syncros with unique abilities and playstyles, inspired by Exoprimal's exosuits.
- A focus on teamwork and strategy to take down formidable foes.
Influences from Pacific Rim:
- Epic, large-scale battles against towering monsters, inspired by Pacific Rim's Kaijus.
- Syncros with a mix of sci-fi and industrial design elements, similar to Pacific Rim's Jaegers.
- A sense of camaraderie and heroism among the Syncer pilots, inspired by Pacific Rim's Drift technology.
Gen:Lock's Unique Twist:
- The ability to "Sync" with machines, allowing pilots to control Syncros with their minds.
- A deep exploration of the consequences of merging human and machine consciousness.
- A diverse cast of characters with complex relationships and backstories.
Possible Storylines:
- "The Syncer Initiative": The pilots must learn to work together and master their Syncros to defeat the alien threat.
- "The Machine Uprising": The Syncros begin to develop their own consciousness, leading to a conflict between humans and machines.
- "The Alien Infiltration": The aliens infiltrate the human ranks, forcing the Syncers to question who they can trust.
This fusion would create a unique and captivating universe, blending the best of both worlds to explore the intersection of technology, action, and humanity in a world of mecha and sci-fi elements.
